Hey all
I'm looking for anyone interested in social windsurfing of Longboards on Lake Macquarie.
it would be good to get a few windsurfers together for a fun afternoon of sailing once a week.
it doesn't need to be competitive, just fun. I'm happy to sail in anything for 3 knots to 30!
thats the beauty of longboards. Hey if it's windy, slalom ok.
if you want to race we can do it formally at Marmong Point Sailing Club either every week or once a month.
i live at Marks Point but happy to sail anywhere. The channel and sailing round the sand islands is a fun sail and challenging dodging the shallow bits, sandy bottom everywhere and clean clear water!
i have the new Wally Windsurfer LT which is a terrific board to sail and so much easier than the old wallys. I also have a few mistral competitions and an F2 Lightning and a few slaloms so ready for anything and happy to loan a board to anyone interested in getting involved again.
wanting to keep it simple, cheap and fun. Not interested in an arms race for the most expensive kit but by all means bring it along for us poor people to check out!
also interested in traveling to Gosford regularly to sail with those guys.
it is great to check out some different sailing spots and check out some of the other clubs around and meet like minded windsurfers.
my email is alhaynes@me.com

hope we can get this sport growing again in Lake Macquarie, home of numerous world windsurfing champions!
the largest saltwater lake in the Southern Hemisphere needs more windsurfers on the water so drag out and dust off the old board, spares are easily available and swapped, old boards are cheap as and the new Windsurfer LT COMPLETE WITH RIG $1999 for those interested in racing - everyone welcome and novice class available for those new to the sport. You don't need to be. A champion you don't need to be super fit, anyone from 5 to 90 can windsurf.
it doesn't have to be about high performance, just fun and cruisin'
cheers, Al
Good luck mate, there must be plenty of old boards around the Lake in garages and sheds. Hopefully you can entice a few more Lake Macquarie locals back to the Windsurfing revolution!
The Gosford crew will have to make the journey to Lake Macquarie to return the support. As you say it's always nice to check out some new locations.
You are always welcome at marmong we have social sailors as well as racers we also have handicap starts occasionally
Hi Barry,
thanks for the invite
yes I'm trying to get a few Wally sailors together so I'm not the only one against all you fillers and formula guys!
im looking at getting windsurfer class racers and social riders together on a regular basis say racers on Saturday and socials on Sunday or both and even doing interclub challenges with some travel to other clubs and visits up here as well.
also thinking ahead on how we can get a nationals on the lake and open to suggestions but not sure Marmong is the best place to host something that big.
regardless, it's good to get as many windsurfers together as possible and maybe a few of the Marmong guys will get into the new LT as a good allrounder board that is so affordable and a back to basics fun board.
Great to hear from Steve and Tony who are keen to get involved! Tony has an LT on order so that will be three on the lake soon By Summer we should have a fleet, old and new wallys or other longboards welcome in fact anyone welcome, if you can't windsurf we can teach you and even loan you some gear.
if interested, just message or call me so I have your email and phone number and we can keep in contact.
at this stage I will be sailing Sunday morning either around the channel or off the end of swansea caravan park either on an original Wally or a slalom board or both
cheers
Al Haynes

Thanks John,
looking forward to learning from you and appreciate you guys welcoming me down at Gosford. Will always have a certain loyalty to the Lake but look forward to sailing at as many locations as possible over the next year. Gosford sailors always welcome up here in God's country and being part of the Windsurfing Revolution! Would be fantastic to get some big races happening at Gosford and the Lake. Both offer plenty of opportunities for a marathon race!
How does A Start at Coon Island Point (at end of caravan park) to go round Pulbah Island back to Elizabeth Island Down swansea Channel, round a nav marker near the airport and back to the caravan park - that would be an awesome race! Doable in a variety of wind directions as well!
I found a few admirers of the new Wally LT as a SUP today and all three had a successful first sail on a Windsurfer as well!
Heading out for a sail on the lake today, nor westerly so will be somewhere between swansea and Bolton point on windsurfer anyone going for a spin?
Hey guys, I'm keen for a sail any day this week, I have some time on my hands so Ready to brave the wind n rain - Central Coast or Lake Macquarie...

Good morning all,
Another Saturday is almost upon us, and I hope you all had a very merry Christmas.
While I don't believe there is any official club racing tomorrow there's a number of us that will be sailing from Gosford sailing club on our Windsurfer LT's to try and get some much needed training in for the upcoming National championships in less than 4 weeks time.
It doesn't matter what board you have, we'd love to have you come and join us. The more the merrier and we ask need the practice for the huge fleet already registered for the Windsurfer nationals (85+).
The forecast is looking marginal but we might get a good NE late in the afternoon and it's going to be warm, so come spend the afternoon out on the water with us.
I hope to see you there.
Peter

Hey Windsurfers
Hope you all had a very Merry Christmas, some good times with family and friends and some time on water!
Now we're into the new year and time to get in tune for the upcoming Nationals at Toronto in 21 days!
Coming up in just over a week is heat 3 of out NSW evoLuTion Season - Sydney Summer Series!
Come along to Narabeen Lakes for an opportunity to sail with over 20 competitors already registered (with so many people registered for the Nationals we are expecting more like 30 to be entrants) also keen to hone their starting line tactics and fine tuning of techniques and equipment.
If you have already paid your $65 early bird Series Entry, all you need do is load up your Wally and his board (haha ?? ) and to him where to go!
If you haven't paid the $65 already, go online and pay the $65 entry fee for the final two races (your generosity always appreciated and it saves us a headache honestly) or pay $25 cash on the day
Where?
Narrabeen Lakes
When?
Sunday 13th January 2019
Be there by 11:00 ish
I will confirm more details soon
Smooth Sailing, Al, Peter, Walshy, Westy and Marty
Windsurfer Class Racing on at Toronto Amateur Sailing Club on Sunday
you are welcome to attend on any Windsurfer brand board or even other old school equipment with old school sails under 6 metres.
if you checked out our Nationals last weekend, you will know windsurfing is back!
if you missed it, Toronto Amateur Sailing Club hosted one of the biggest windsurfing events in Aus for over thirty years (excluding the legendary Ledge to Lancelin race in WA) we had 107 competitors on eithe Windsurfer LT's, One Designs and even a Windsurfer Original sailed by Rohan Cudmore in the Freestyle event.
there were a stack of Windsurfing legends who attended and some big wins by a Lake Macquarie sailors!
the town of toronto was buzzing with the slalom event held close to sure with electric commentary and plenty of action!
So, if you are interested, turn up and check it out Sunday at around midday.
if you don't have a board or rig, let me know and I can try to help you out.
call Al Haynes on 0438336495
Good work on the Sunday racing Al. Everyone is welcome at Marmong on a Saturday afternoon (1:30pm onwards) if you feel like sailing both days.

Cheers James, I'm sure we can work together to get more windsurfers back on the lake regardless of board preferences. The guys at Toronto are keen to be involved with the wallies again and the pres already has an LT.
Lanee Beashel is organising a sailing regatta next weekend at SLMASC at Sunshine over two days. Windsurfers welcome to attend. 5 boards of a class needed to make a division. $40 entry. Toronto will be sailing there. Am trying to organise five Wally sailors to attend. Also looking for any old one designs that any if the guys at Marmong may have tucked away that they may like to share with returning sailors.
cheers Al.
Hey Normster
Toronto Amateur Sailing Club holds Racing most Sunday arfternoons and we will be joining them.
they usually race lasers and skates and are welcoming to Windsurfer One Design originals and LT's joining in.
there are two older generation windsurfers at the club ready for anyone who turns up and wants to join in but doesn't have a board or rig. Please feel welcome to come along. I can show you how to rig it and can give a few tips to get you Sailing if required.
today we had two LT's and an original Windsurfer on the water. It was a little too breezy for some but all had great fun at Toronto.
racing starts sometime after 12. Usually by 1 - 1:30 and finished by 4.
if you are learning or a bit rusty, come along a bit earlier for time to get some tips and set up. Also the breeze likely a little less most mornings in summer.
i can organise a few small and very small sails that younger, smaller sailors can have a good go with.
rubber SAILING boots recommended. BCF, REBEL OR BOB FUSSELL SAILS SELL THESE.
Today had an east nor Easter around 12 to 16 knots. The lake was pretty choppy and a little challenging for the newer sailors at Toronto. It was much less choppy earlier (before 12) and after 4pm - more ideal for learning.
there were two NAISH hover WINDSURF FOILERS cruising around Toronto bay and going quite well, and a few old school Windsurfers sailing on the lee side of Bolton Point.
together with our crew, that totalled 8 windsurfers in our bay today. Seems the Nationals have encouraged a few sailors to either drag out their old gear, try and learn the sport (we had a dad teaching his adult son today in challenging conditions on a Wally ), or experienced sailors coming to check out what is a great sailing spot.
theres a big regatta at Sunshine next week, so no sailing at Toronto next weekend. However please call me if you want to join us.
a few more windsurfers have indicated they will be joining us regularly.
