MID-WINTER CLASSIC
2008 REGATTA
ALL CLASSES ARE WELCOME, FROM WALLIES TO RACEBOARD TO FORMULA
19TH & 20TH OF JULY 2008
Hi guys,
will the midwinters at Marmong include slalom racing if wind gets too strong to sail Formula or Raceboard. Need to know whether to pack slalom gear.
What time does racing start?
Bruce,
Current average windspeed on weekends this winter is approx 6.574392 knots. Would suggest that slalom gear may not be neccessary for the mid winters. If you are going to bring any thing bring a pedestal fan.
Should the windspeed exceed 30 knots then I guess we will have to consider wally slalom, raceboard slalom and plain old garden variety slalom.
Racing will start at midday on Saturday, Huey willing and 11am on Sunday.
Should racing fail to find a winner, then the winner will be the person to consume the largest number of sausages on Saturday at the sizzle at the completion of sailing or waiting.
20-25 Formula races turned up for Saturday. 3 races in sunny, gusty conditions. Sunday is looking windy....
Thanks to the Marmong crew again for running this event. Nice to get on the water again and to get 3 races done was a great effort considering the wind.
Also thanks to Karl Degras ( a regular on the forum but I won't give away his alias ) for taking the time to document the racing for Oz Windsurf. Look forward to seeing some of the pics when we can.
Sam.
