Course Racing is on this Saturday...Wind is forecast 15-20knots SE.
We will be racing right in front of Georges River Sailing Club georgesriversailingclub.com.au/
Suggest parking on the far side of the building next to the grass area....
Briefing 10am.
1st start 11am.
Best cast scenario is 5 quick races on a simple upwind/downwind course, starting and finishing just off the beach.
There is a very popular cafe at the club for coffee/food etc if required....
See you there...
Some special entries at this event:
Sebastian Kordel GER-220 (Current Formula European champion)
Jesper Vesterstrom DEN-111 (ex world #1 ranked Formula racer)
Sean O'Brien AUS-120 (7 x Australian Formula champion)
Christian Justsen DEN-26 (2013 world Youth Formula champion)
Quick update:
Weather was better than the forecast, which was a real bonus.
1st race was right on schedule of 11.10am in about 15knots East winds, which was not bad in the waters directly in front of Georges River Sailing Club.
4 races completed, with GER-220 (Sebastian Kordel) winning the day with 3 wins followed by DEN-26 (Christian Justsen) winning 1 and Sean O'Brien in 3rd.
I'll get the official results up asap..
Thanks for everyone for turning up and Andrew from GRSC who ran the racing like a machine....
Sounds like it was a cracker Brett & James, sorry to have missed it. Congrates to the winners & place getters & well done on the organising. Looking forward to hitting the water & some racinging in the new year
Where there any results for this regatta
Apologies to all sailors for the lateness with these. Not being at this one still not sure about the identity of the red sail on the day, but here are the preliminary results from Heat 4 at GRSC, the wk before Christmas.
Happy new year to everyone and don't forget about Heat #5 up at Lake Macquarie on the 10th of January.
Those results are definitely not correct. I remember clearly getting a fourth behind the three pro sailors in one of the heats. I was pretty happy with myself as I was using my spare formula board and I couldn't bend my left knee very well and I was on a 12m when most where on 11 or smaller.
I always like to say, respect to all people / officials who have run windsurfing events past and present.
In recent weeks there has been some extensive consultation amongst numerous race committees, who charter it was determined, was to review the results from Heat #4 of the Windsurfing NSW for 2014/15. After an exhaustive round of interviews and in assessment of the various accounts of what had occurred on the day, it was determined that there were errors made in recording the results. Based on the evidence the committee had before it, we were able to determine the following results, which as it turns out, do vary slightly from the previous.
It should be noted that fortunately the winners and top place getters have not been affected by any of these changes and so our overseas visitors and indeed us all, can sleep soundly from tonight. Moving forward, I will interpret silence on the matter as complicitous with the revised results and therefore like all things made official, they will be publish on Facebook within the next 24hours!
Sorry a couple of mistakes in the last results posted. Please find below the amended results.
Drops are being calculated as per the Windsurfing Competition Rules, as we have no specific NSW Series requirement in our Sailing Instructions. So the first drop at 5 races, second drop at 12 races. (The previous results were calculated assuming a drop after 4)
Points are assigned equal to the position of finishing except for first place, which is assigned 0.75, per the NSW Windsurfing Series instructions. DNF, DNS, OCS are assigned points equal to the number of competitors + 1. (Happy to supply SIs, so just PM me?)
Thank you David Howe for the results. He and I will review and tally all the NSW Series heats to date this week and post before Heat #5 at Lake Macquarie next week end. Stay tuned for all the details and look forward to seeing everyone there.
