Hello all, I've just posted a video i shot over the summer, the sailors name is Alex and he is 7 years old and has only been windsurfing since October 08....As it is getting colder and the wind is s#@t why don't you throw up some links to some vids you have shot to get us all through the long winter.
Bring back summer.
Excellent good on him, another year he will be showing us all how to do it. SP looks good, how far is it from sydney and what wind direction works best?
lee1972, Sanctuary Point is near Jervis Bay approx 195km south of Sydney a great flatwater spot and ideal for learners. It pretty much works in all wind directions but NE and Southerly are best, Westerly also works well but its gusty and the chop is huge...good fun though.
Good video JH, so many champions in the ACT.
At 3:01, don't you love the way Dads lean to windward when No.1 son is about to sheet in.
Hey jh2703, what size sail is your son using ?
I've been teaching my boys with a 3.5 kit I got in France, but it's still a bit heavy for them.
LeStef...the young fellow in question is not my youngster, I'm just friends with a proud and devoted father. Anyway Alex and i started windsurfing about the same time and his dad is the reason why we both have made good progression into the sport.
Alex began with the Ezzy kids rigs but progressed passed them quickly and now uses Severne Sails XS-1 they are sized as follows, 2.0, 2.5, 3.0, 3.6. The video was shot over a weekend and at times the wind was well over 30 knots, sadly me being selfish i was out sailing and didn't catch Alex when he was really cranking.
hope the kids crack it.....cheers.
Thanks Jason.
I now have to find a good spot in Sydney.
I only got my gear back last week end as we just moved from Hobart !
Not so sure where to start...
It's going to be weird to sail without a thick wet suit in summer
