I was surprised to find no mention of this on the forums here, was reading about the PFAS issue affecting other Australian airports and then looked into Botany Bay.
Seems that there is certainly contamination in the water (they advise against eating too much fish), but no advice on entering the water. The readings from Botany have not been released.

There used to be signs on the shore near Foreshore Rd (the part of the bay nearest the Botany industrial area) that said not to swim if it had rained in the last 3 days. I guess they're still there.

Ok interesting, the contamination from the Orica plant looks to be a different from the PFAS at the airport. Even more contamination in the water we sail in

I *think* I've seen them along The Grand Parade too, 'cause I remember thinking "It's Sydney, d'uh."
Although I thought that was more related to the rubbish in storm drains.
