On Saturday the 27th & 28th of February, SOUTH LAKE MACQUARIE AMATEUR SAILING CLUB are hosting the Windsurfer Class NSW State Championships. Entry is $50 for the wk end. Charter boards & rigs are available for $20 also.

On the Sunday morning from 10 to 11am Bevan McKavanagh from BIC Sport Australia will be at the club to run free windsurfing lessons for all the Jr Sailors on both BIC Techno 293 & SUP windsurfer boards. If you’re interested in participating in these lessons then RSVP to Laneeb@ymail.com to participate.

Post racing on the Sunday Jessica Crisp, Lanee Beashel & others will be on hand to present a bit of fun freestyle action to anyone that’s interested in the ol’ school art of One Design trick riding.

It should be a great wk end on the lake with some competitive fun action to be had and a fantastic opportunity to be introduced to windsurfing for the kids.

For all the details on the wk end head to:

Hope to see a few other people down there with their kids on Sunday for the lessons!

Formal lessons from 10-11 then informal sailing and fun for the rest of the day. Thanks to the guys from Bic Sport Australia for giving up their day again to help get people keen on windsurfing.

The Club were great hosts for the WS One Design NSW States. Thanks again to Lanee, Diana and Team. Lake Macquarie put on two warm and sunny days, with moderately strong winds on the Saturday and lighter winds on Sunday. Best fleet the WS One Designs have had at Lake Macquarie since the event at Belmont. Well done everyone for making the trip. Competitors and supporters travelled by car, boat and on foot to be there. Bevan & Co. added to the colour on Sunday with all the Bic gear and there were kids everywhere. One Opti sailor did well, sailing a junior-rigged WS One Design on the main course. Fun to have JustinL and family visit. Thanks to Lanee, main convenor for the event & Adam, Trent, Joel, Diana, Melissa, Goldie, Jessica, Elena and others for all their hard work for the event. Results after two days included the following first places - Lanee (local) - Women, Will W. (local) - Mediumweight, Rob H. - Lightweight, Mark F. - Heavyweight. More results to follow.
