Hey Steve Newman, congrats on being the new NSW Windsurfer O/D rep or President!
I have had a few enquires from people that use to sail one designs in the past, so maybe there will be a few coming out of the woodwork for the upcoming NSW One design states due to be held over the weekend of 24-25th of March 2012.
Just wanted to know how things were progressing as Pittwater should be an interesting location for the event?
Rob.
There has been a lot of interest from ex Windsurfer One Design sailors keen to renew their passion for truely tactical racing. Since it was recently put back into production sales locally & internationally (to Italy & back to the home of the original Windsurfer, to California) have been steadily increasing. Germany is also showing keen interest. International regattas might soon be back on the annual agenda! The January national champs at Port Stephens enjoyed a good roll up and close competition. The 'youth' category has also been well attended, and the class has spawned some of our best national youth reps. We're expecting the States, to be raced from BYRA, with the courses north of Scotland Is, will enjoy similar tight competition, and the usual comraderie around the Saturday evening BBQ.
Well done Steve
All in all it was a great weekend, could have had a bit more wind but wow, the competition was as stiff as usual..lol. Great venue, well organised and the barby was great. Now I only need to find my cooking utensils, I was having such a good time I forgot about them all together!
