Given the wind situation how about organizing a soccer match like Demerits agains Cockroaches or similar.... we might even have time for a full winter championship the way its going. Any ideas welcome !

How about a bike race? David and I can ride bikes well (plus other also?), and we have GPS on them so we can upload to GPSTC?!?! :)

that sounds great , and we Demerits have our racing champion Macwind. We could do max speed , 5 x 10, mile, hour and kilometres...but not sure about alpha

Yep!
I have had one sail since Feb 9..........& that was Fraser Island in Qld

I am in for MTB.
Have tried an alpha on bike & it is really hard to get a half decent speed.
I'll see if I can find it & post

Look at our graphs then halve the wind strengths. That will give you an idea.

May is absolutely the worst month of the year for wind on lake maquarie. I've had 3 days of sailing this month which is 3 more than I thought I would get in may. The weather report tonight mentioned a shift to a la ninia www.bom.gov.au/climate/glossary/lanina.shtml pattern but didn't say for how long.

They did mention a chain of big high pressures systems across NSW for the next month. This is absolutely typical for this time of year until mid winter. May is a windless disaster. Find something else to do until mid to late july if you are in NSW mid/mid north. I recommend spectacular amounts of beer.

Been getting a few nice morning breezes most days up here (Mid North Coast Kempsey way) around s-w 8-12 knots, so getting wet at least with 110 / 7.4 combo. It makes it interesting catching the waist-high grubbers but usually get a few nice runs between waiting for sets. Then smack on 11 am you do the walk of shame back in... Definitely less wind the further south you head. Right now, Coffs showing 10-16 knts, Port Mac around 6 at the airport, so probably nothing on the beaches.

Any sailing is better than nothing but gunna have to dust off the kayak and flick some lures around soon, few nice bream starting to show. Pushbike can gather some more dust.

Nice Jase.
Pretty sure this time of the year is what SUP was invented for. Its great any time but when no wind its very therapeutic. Waves or flat, just getting on the water is sweet. Especially with NSW forecast for the next week or so.

I'm getting slightly annoyed with the graph of the wind forecast. Has anyone else noticed how any green arrows appearing on the end seem to turn low yellow or red by the time they make it to the beginning. Also the bom likes to issue strong wind warnings that don't arrive. I think that they really don't want to get caught having not issued one which does but couldn't care less about the one's that don't arrive. I realize that they err on the side of caution though in the interest of public safety so I don't want to complain but for those of us who are desperate for some good wind it can be a bit annoying. There whinge had...
