Dear Team,

Please see attached the Bayside Sailboard Club's Sailing Instructions for our 2016 Slalom Series.

This information has been prepared to make sure that there is as little confusion on race day as possible, as we want everyone, Pro and Rookie, to have the best day racing possible.

Start Sequence
The white flag indicates that the start boat is on station and a start signal will commence shortly.

N.B there is no set time between white flag and first signal, it will be as soon as practical. It is an indication to keep your eyes on the boat.

Open and Freeride / Rookie will use the same start line and the same start sequence. As you can see from the diagram, the Freeride / Rookie fleet will start 1 minute after the Open fleet.

The coloured flag will be displayed with a sound signal at the start of its corresponding start sequence, and will remain visible for the whole of that minute.

In the absence of a sound signal due to conditions, you should use the raising of a flag to signal the appropriate time signal.

Course Types
There are two course types:
1. For a North East Forecast, and
2. For a South East Forecast.

Of these two courses, there are:
1. Open Fleet version, and
2. Freeride / Rookie Fleet version.

N.B In the Open Fleet, Mark No.2 is only a mark of the course for when rounding it as per the diagram. You may disregard it at all other times.

The Green (Starboard) and Red (Port) arrows indicate the Right of Way direction of travel.

NB although there is a right of way direction, please note that boards on opposite tacks will be converging rapidly, be safe and indicate you intentions early when approaching other boards.

I hope that this helps provide some clarity to our race organisation, and lets everyone get the most enjoyment out of their racing.

See you on the water!

Simon Fyffe & Simon Tribe (Race Directors).
