If your going to Sail at Golden Beach - you need to be cautious about the outgoing tide / low tide.

The sandbanks are becoming more and more exposed etc as they have for some time now.

Do your depth checks where you intend on sailing and use the appropriate fins. If your still not sure - do some runs without being harnessed in so you lessen the chance of catapulted crashes.

Look at where others are sailing and don't get complacent. I'm sure there is other tips I could give but you can work it out. I've had a few run ins with the banks and lucky I haven't hurt myself yet.

Stay safe

Was going to go fishing but its too windy...

Anyways. All this talk of wind has ruined it now. Skunked by our own happiness and approaching fishing weather in brisbane.

The other danger at golden pond is the amount of half submerged trees out near the new bar.

I was over there on Saturday morning and into the afternoon. Plenty of water over the banks then but caution is needed when the tide gets lower. Don't assume that the person you see sailing over the bank has a fin the same as yours.

There were also some sizeable trees washed up on the shore and a couple more beached on sandbanks over the far side. It looks as though the mouth is still widening, slowly creeping northwards, exposing more trees to erosion.

There was an incident yesterday with one sailor and a sand bank which resulted in that person being hospitalised with very serious injuries.

The sandbanks have been a problem for a while and most of us know where they are. I think that the stronger winds on the weekend also played a part. You will run out of water very quickly if you don't turn early enough. I saw this happen with someone else when they gybed too close to the shore. They had to bail out rather than crash into the sand. Part of the learning curve.
