Some of us have been foiling at Lake Clarendon in the Lockyer Valley. Westery spot only. Better than the bay..... August westerlies are almost here. Hit me up and will keep you posted

Well done Mr Keen- I think all the freshwater Lakes/ Dams in SE Qld are under utilised for sailing. There are some suprise locations that offer excellent sailing areas

Are you thinking of Somerset Dam or perhaps Wivenhoe Dam? How about Borumba Dam near Imbil on the Sunshine Coast?

Redcliffe peninsula is gifted with two westerly options, Bells Beach at Clontarf and Jameson Park at Scarborough. Both work on a higher tide best, Bells west to SW, Jameson west to NE.

Bells is especially popular in a SW.

Will come check it out if the tides are right. Reason I head to Lake Clarendon is the tide is always in.

Borumba - no its way too sheltered. I've sailed in a few - Bjeilke Petersen dam near Murgon, Lake Awoonga near Gladstone which was awesome in a SE, Somerset that was pretty good. I've gone past a few but can't remember names of that have potential.

I used to sail a dinghy on Lake Burley Griffin. Plenty of wind but it would come from all different directions. I would have thought that most inland dams/lakes would suffer from the same issues.

Most do, foiled on Cooby Dam outside Toowoomba. Was literally slogging 360s in the middle in the lulls, not to mention the stringy weed that will try to drown you close to shore
Clarendon is an exception West and Southwest come straight off flat farmland

Spice up the winter doldrums with a SW at Byron, dawn session Saturday. Early start, offshore conditions. Well worth the effort, join us
Edit; Bring your surfboard for when it turns South mid morning....
