Just a reminder race two is still scheduled for Bribie this Sunday,
Forecast is a little sketchy at this stage to call it, does look like there may be some wind, however Saturday seems to be the most likely windy day of the weekend.
Let's see how the high/change progresses during the week before committing.
Yesterdays wind was great, enjoy this arvo's wind also!
HI All,
We are still in that awkward stage of not being 100% confident on a decent blow for Sunday currently, so we are going to wait to see what develops with the forecast and call it either tonight or Friday.
Yes there are some 'green' arrows on the SB chart, but if you also look at the BOM Synoptics' you will see that it's not a big high and it is weakening quickly, some charts have Saturday looking good for wind and Sunday backing off, certainly by Monday nothing.
We just want to be as certain as possible that if we call it, it is in fact windy, our aim is 100% success on the Race calls this season...we don't want to have people driving all over the place and making commitments for dud wind.
Stay tuned, here and Face Book, will also update by SMS for those that have registered their mobiles online.
Freerace 2 Bribie island is on this Sunday, earlier sign on than normal 11.00am, working with the forecast for more wind earlier than later. Likely location will be Woorim beach Sth of the SLC , to be confirmed.
A 'test sail' will be done tommorow just to make sure conditions are good, with a midday low it should be great for some spectacular blue water sailing in a really nice spot,
GPS replay and beers in the Surf Club afterwards!
Hope you are right as the forecast for Brisbane is ordinary and Bayside have cancelled their Slalom Racing on Sunday due to the prediction.
PS. Where exactly will I be heading for this event so I can look it up on a map? Is it the car park to the south of SLC or is it going to be at the club? Are there amenities in the park?
Cheers
Marty

So do we! Forecast is 15-20 has been for a couple of days and still is, must say the 'map' suggests less but as of 8.30 this morning it was blowing 15-20 at 'Spitfire Channel' which is the closest BOM station to the site...so hopefully that's a good news as normally gets windier as day progresses with a SE.
Doing a 'test run' later today, if it's no good today, we won't go Sunday and it will be postponed, till the next windy Sunday, update on event status will be end of today.
The wind this season hasn't been at it's best so we just need to be ready to make the most of anything we are given! Low tide isn't an issue at this location, in fact it will make it better for blasting straight off the beach at Woorim
Will post a map up tonight of the spot, but Woorim is the Moreton Island/ocean side of Bribie, Set up location is just south of the SLC, large car park.
There are toilets, cafe's, patrolled beach, heaps of Shade and grass etc all back at the at the SLC end, short 5 min walk.
All is still go for Bribie Island Woorim Beach Tomorrow,
Sign on at 11.00 for possibly an earlier start than normal, it was a 15-18 knt wind out there today , nice session on a 7.5 and 100 ltr, slightly bigger board possibly would have been even better.
Can't guarantee the wind, but the forecast is pretty similar to today, just better earlier than late, if it delivers the same it will be great.
Plenty of cafe's, parks, patrolled beach near by for the family, far worse places to be stuck if it doesn't blow!
Normal pre registration is available via the website, http://www.freeracequeensland.com/entry-faq-s.html
We are also grateful to have support of the Bribie SLC who will be keeping an eye out on the water with their IRB.
This is pretty much the sailing area, as sailed today.
Map of the event site, and some snaps from the 'other side' this is the mainland side, great shallow flat water for small kids, and protected from the wind whilst mum or dad sails!...
Bribie is a great place with a very laid back feel, for more info..www.ourbribie.com.au/ don't forget the trip from the Bruce Hwy is longish and on a Sunday it will be slow, so allow time..
Ok so this ended up as a non-event cause the wind didn't show up. I still went for a float in the bay but there was nothing. Made this quick video to show people what a nice place it is for windsurfing.
Cheers
Marty
there was some faster action a bit later when wind swung and kicked, big board / sail stuff like 9m
Woorim is such a nice beach, great backdrop with Moreton island there also.....Bribie is such a sleepy island but had heaps of great beaches that offer either wind or flat calm water for swimming all over the place...worth the drive there for day trips, getting a sail is a bonus!
