COMING SOON

Windwanderers and the Lake Cootharaba Yacht Club are pleased to announce that a holfuy weather station will be installed to provide a live wind reading from a position on or near the Yacht Club.

Lake Cootharaba Yacht Club member Russell Witt has been instrumental in getting this weather station up and running. We anticipate the station will be live in the next week. We will keep you posted.

Holfuy is an all in one solution for getting real time weather data from almost everywhere in the World. The automatic weather stations are fully autonomous by using GSM network and solar power. The standard stations are shipped with wind speed, direction and temperature sensors

The station can be reached through either of the links below

The station is now up and running in a temporary location on the clubhouse roof, pending the finalisation of approvals and arrangements to install it out on the point near the jetty.

Live data from the station is also able to be viewed via apps for mobile devices..

Thanks Russell - a big effort to get it up and running today, with the 'ultimate sacrifice" of a days sailing

Here's the station installed in its temporary trial location on the Lake Cootharaba Sailing Club roof.

H

I'm aiming to install it on the point near the jetty once arrangements and approvals are sorted, but it seems the readings that it's currently providing on the roof are reasonably consistent with conditions on the lake, despite being partially sheltered from wind in some directions by trees.

The station and various other local weather forecast and observation sites can be viewed by going to the LCSC weather page...

Mustn't forget the following when giving thanks:

Pete, for introducing me to the Holfuy station at Sunrise Beach and convincing me that we needed one at the Lake.

The rest of the hierarchy at LCSC for agreeing with me to fund the purchase, installation and operating costs of the system.

Windwanderers for agreeing to share the purchase costs, allowing us to get a more "upmarket" system.

And last but not least... Holfuy themselves for providing a great product and service.

Ah righto, I downloaded the IOS app and when I select show location on Map for Monties it brings up the two on the sunny coast. App functionality seems a bit basic although the 'chart history' option is great. Need one of these at our local.

Monties and Possums sites are at Byron Bay. Two more called Dixon Park and Forresters Beach are down near Lake Budgewoi

If your numbers come up in km/hr click on the circular icon left of register, Unit settings come up to change to Knots

Thanks Pete... Didn't think of that. Selected knots in settings when configuring the station, but might not automatically work for all, depending on how you access it.

Nice work guys!
Our Holfuy on Lake Illawarra (over the water) has been in for nearly 2 years and very reliable. We are just about to do some maintenace, including an upgrade to get lake height (tide) measurement.
A great unit. Good luck with yours

Ta.. they certainly are a great unit, Yours was one of the stations that convinced me that we needed one here. Would have liked to mount ours out on the water too but don't trust the integrity of some of the beacons on our lake or light fingered tourists. Current trial land base on our clubhouse is proving to be reasonably indicative of conditions on the lake, but we do have an alternative in the pipeline that could prove better.

The initial location our clubhouse proved to be too sheltered from wind from SE-S. Pending Council approval, it has now been relocated (on a trial basis) to a new position that should alleviate this problem.

Great work ! I ignored the station and looked DI on Sat and did the ol' deduct 5-10kn off DI and you get the Lake speed , was pretty spot on... great session , so worth the drive the water was nice, wind was great, much windier than further south, water was pretty flat too :)
its too easy to forget how good it is up there, even if it doesn't blow its a great place to chillax!
