I had such a great time hooning around on my formula board at Hawk's Nest that I'm seriously considering trekking south again for the FW event at Valentine on Saturday week (see tour.windsurfingnsw.com/calendar/). Any other QLD-er's making the trip?
I have some logistics to sort out so I'm by no means a definite, but if there was someone else to join forces with that might make the difference between go and no-go.
Can't go south again so soon but jacob and I are hoping to get enough wind on Saturday to give the formula's a run again.
I'm intending to go to a lot of them once my shoulder is better and strong enough. So not for this one but for future NSW circuit events I could help. (Probably not Jervis Bay though. Too far).
Jaime, would be great to have you down here again. Here's a link to some photos from a recent regatta on Lake Macquarie to whet your appetite.

Check with Sean if he is coming, maybe you can car/trailer pool.
Keep an eye on the Seabreeze NSW Forum as we will post updates about start times, locations etc.
PM me if you need info on accommodation etc. There is plenty available in all price ranges across the Newcastle/lake macquarie area.
Cheers
James
Be good to see you down there Jaime!
I've already booked tickets to fly down, so can't help you on the car-pooling sorry.
Nice spot to race there at Marmong ... in a southerly you just step off the beach and the startline is 50m in front. Literally just sit on the beach and click your watch for the 5-mins then jump in to the water...haha.
Always a good blowout in Newcastle on a Saturday night too ;-)
If I can get out of work early enough I'm keen to come down to RQ tomorrow and race on the FW kit if you guys are coming :-)
Thanks James, PMed.
No worries Sean, but when I get down there I might pick your brains on how flying with giant formula kit works. Pretty sure I'm not set up for it wrt bags etc.
Can't do RQ tomorrow, my FW board is in the shop for repairs - harness hook damage from all that climbing back on I did at Hawk's Nest. So I'm taking the raceboard in The Great Race. Bit of a long story how that came about, suffice to say I've been peripherally involved in the race for years but only found out at the last minute that they'd accept sailboards this year.
We are definites for rq tomorrow Jacob is hooked on formula now he is itching to race the board and sail he bought at hawks nest. It's gonna be hard to get him back on the techno.
He got a starboard 161 and a 10.0m severne code red. The combination seems to work good because he sailed it really well today and got a second place. Thats the last time I have a bet over who will beat who now I have to wash all the gear by myself.
Da Vecta & Jamie you missed a good day at RQ with 13 boards racing.
6 x RSXs complete with 2 coach boats shadowing the elite girls
4 x Techno 293s
3 x Formulas
There were an additional 2 old faces seen on the water on more RSXs and 2 learners on Technos 293s.
Late in the day there was even a reported sighting of "Up There" on the RSX.
Greenleader, you know too much :) That's my brother Peter on the left and my old man 3rd from the left. And I believe I detect a Nietschke and a Buick in there somewhere.
Sounds like a great day at RQ - maybe I should have done that instead of destroying what's left of my body after Hawk's nest in the Great Race (Hollywell to RQ marathon). My elapsed time was 5 hrs 45 mins and I reckon 5 hrs of that was on starboard tack. Ouch. Leo was doing a horizon job until he took an expensive shortcut across a sandbank, but given that he had a chase boat with a packed eski I don't reckon he was too upset.
IIt was good to see the two old faces on the water yesterday. When will we see them on the start line
We won't know until tomorrow, but wind is looking a bit dodgy...
I just wanted to give you a heads up before you drive all the way down....i'll be back.
Thanks Brett, yeah, forecast is looking a bit sad. I'm half inclined to come down anyway, so let me know whether it's a definite no-go or just a probable. The cunning plan is to leave my gear in Sydney after the event and then fly down for the Huski event, so there are reasons to make the trip even if it looks less than ideal for Marmong.
Gday guys,
