There is new exciting game everybody could join now on Gold Coast. When asked politely by our mate to move away from our sailing patch, skipper of the power boat decided that this is exactly what he now will be doing for next 2 hours.

Stick to the kite and windsurf path to cross the traffic and merge full speed.
I gave up chicken game after 1 hour but brave Tony managed to stay alive for 2 hours at least.

At times Tony is doing 32 ktn according to his GPS log track , but our brave skipper still is able to catch up and donuts passengers flying uncontrollably .

I my opinion the Broadwater these days becomes as much attractive for excitement looker as Movie World nearby.
They have their drowning dingy and hang in air upside down rollercosters , we have speed boats and jetski going after unpowered rest of the world.

Ob
Obviously kitesurfer playing chicken with speed boat have this advantage that could jump over approaching boat, even kick the skipper in his stupid empty bucket head.
Lets just imagine windsurfer doing 32 knots , full in straps and harnes lines , catch by flying half a meter above water rope towed by powerfull power boat doing 40 knots in opposite direction

I sailed at the Train for the first time in ages last week and came away thinking that the Gold Coast has gained yet anther boat ramp but lost one of the last few places to Windsurf on the Broadwater.

Not really. After recent development I would rather observe and stay away. May warn rest of the water users but will not engage into any discussion with boats owners. The last thing I want now is this crazy donut owner chasing me over Broadwater like houseboat owner not long ago....The guy decided to do rounds specially to interrupt our sailing and prove his rights to do whatever they want for good two hours. So not point for me interfere or change his mind.In fact video was taken when everybody finish sailing already , including me , but at the time water was busy with several windsurfers and similar amount of kiters. Hard enough to negotiate path, without even crazy donut speed boat suddenly making round just in the middle of whole action.I am not sure about speed limit in this area but 6 knots that apply only to power boats may solve the problem in the future. 40 knots inside the most used by wind and kite surfers patch on Broadwater seems to be asking for problems.

i was sailing at shear water and just started sailing at this spot this summer, think it might be time to go back to beach breaks to try avoid becoming a statistic here.

Its not a designated water skiing area, its illegal to anything tow behind a boat. Take your footage to Water Police & Boating & Fisheries. Also every sailor should have ph nos in their phone & ring them straight away with morons like this out there.
