That sounds action packed, that's what we need for this sport, I might have to start trying some waves as I would love to be in that.
I'm getting in early... :-) a couple of us trialled this this winter.
lots on over summer, social days, longboard racing, slalom racing, free racing, wave sailing, windfest and now something extra to do over winter.
gotta love qld.
Hi Justin, wave slalom racing is great fun and very good for the sport, have done a lot of it in the early day at Byron Bay and South West Rocks, I will be giving it a go again.

You back Geoff?
Indeed it looks like an interesting format and I'm guessing it favours the wave/open water sailor. Great to see more events popping up and one where spectators can view it all happening.
Cheers
Marty

everyone should have a go. we are setting the course in an area that makes it more than manageable without wave skills but still provides waves to negotiate. on the dry runs we had i was able to weave my way between waves fairly easily which i found to be the fastest lines for me. that was during a 25knot SE storm session which is as full on as it gets.
in SW and W winds there are longer flat runs between waves so speeds are higher.
a few photos of the spot.

Justin, I think it is the best form of sailboard racing very exciting safe and fun, you are right you do not need a lot of wave skills or the best gear I think you are on a real winner with this one, bring it on.
Has any council approval been sought? I'd be wary about dropping markers in and announcing a 'race' without approval, entrants being covers by AWA insurance etc...
cheers bowsa,
yes this will be an official windwanderer event and so everything that entails will be taken care of. also, there are no marine overlays for that area of water so no issues at this stage.
