Looking forward to it. Hope some people join in to pick up a few tips on getting around a course. It's a fun way to add another aspect to sailing.
I have the two trainer sails due to be adopted as class legal for beginners or kids if anyone want's to have a go on them, eg; Wive's and Kid's. Pete and I both have extra board's too. Neap tide's mean sail all day.

Hey guy's, we're having a meet -up at Sandstone tomorrow and setting a course and encouraging people to have a go and pick up a few tips.
Anyone with a long board should join in with those of us with One Design's.
Paddles bring your Windsup mate.
It's about having fun, and the weather looks perfect , with neap tide's and high in the middle of the day.
Brad and Tony now have One Design rig's and are coming. I think Olschool is bringing his raceboard down too, so it's looking like a good turn out. Jeff, haven't you got a rig for your One Design too??????
Anyone who want's me to bring an extra One Design let me know. Peter has a couple extra too, so there's plenty between us, but you have to let us know. it's a lot to carry with a full car.

That's cool mate. I let him know we've got him covered.
Looking like a beautiful day.
Is anyone from down that way coming that you know of?

Yesterday started out with minimal wind which got us out far enough to find ourselves becalmed with a few of us sitting on our boards for a while. It was a bit of a giggle watching people going round and round on their board's. Pete and Alex started paddling and at one stage nearly passed me while I was pumping. Eventually a nice breeze came in to enjoy a sail, but no match sailing.
The new Wally LT's were received delightfully by Adam, Pat and Alex after having a go.
Mark did really well first time on an old One Design, learning to point higher, and Brad and Tony seemed to enjoy finally having proper rig's for their One Design's.
No sailing photo's , but there was beer's and tomfoolery at the end of a beautiful day.

On another note; Before the fun, Jeff couldn't stay so we all threw around some ideas first on how to get something going on a regular basis with some match sailing for fun.
The thing's that came up were;
1. Pete bought up the idea of joining an existing club, for example Humpybong Sailing club near Woody point.
2. Many of us agreed that maybe a central, fixed location would not be effective, and would the Victoria Point crowd and people from other south-side areas come and play.
3. I suggested that a community of like minded windsurfers (Predominately One Designs, but also anyone with a long-board) could simply revolve around a list of contacts that can communicate and contribute to a calendar of event's.
4. Ideas for event's and location's were; Lake Coootharaba Sailing club (mixed fleet), RQ (Three visit's), Humpybong, Victoria Point, and of course Bribie Island (Sandstone, Turners, Bongaree).
5. Visiting established club's who'd be happy for us to come along would maybe avoid all the legality's involved with forming a club and maybe help bring people from other discipline's together on a few occasions, which I feel could be a good thing.
6. The first delivery of the New LT's are arriving shortly and surely there will be people who want to get as much fun out of them as they can.
7. Come try it day's offering free lessons from Pete and myself including use of gear and proper safety boat which I'm soon to take possession of.

In addition to this, I was just talking to Paddles by phone. He bought up some good points, mostly regarding legality's.
This is an area that concern's me and I would welcome any ideas in open forum or PM.

Cheers,
Darren.

It was a good day even though the wind dropped off at one stage but any sailing at Bribie Island Bribie Island is a good day. After having a go at the new WOD LT I must say its a very good board and a real pleasure to sail. Much easier than the old board and has got me thinking it would be a good cruising board so may just end up getting one.

Good meeting you guys and having a sail.

Just so we're all singing off the same song sheet, Dag and I were chatting about how litigious the modern world is and that, if something goes wrong someone will be looking for someone to be held accountable and I'd hate for him to be left with his @rse hanging in the breeze if this were to happen.

So my story is (and I'm no lawyer), if you were deemed to be a person who is organizing an organized event, then you end up having a duty of care to the participants and if "Murphy" strikes and something goes wrong, you may be held accountable. The only solution (if you are planning on having an "organized event") is to do it all the "right" way and become part of an existing sailing club or windsurfing club, follow all the rules/regulations and get the proper insurance coverage.

or........

We just go sailing like we always have, we throw a few floats in the water to mark out a course for those who want to "practice" and those who want to race go and race at an organized event held by a properly affiliated club with the required levels of regulation.

We also discussed inclusiveness, ie if any gliding hull (raceboards/windSUPs etc) was eligible, and a handicap system used, (like at sailing club) it would maximize participation. Local sailing clubs; Bribie and Humpybong; have all the infrastructure (home base, safety boat, cans, affiliations with YA, and handicap software) and may be happy to add a windsurfing class to their club events in order to get new members.

Today I found an old Windsurfer (presumably a one design) abandoned - bottom was delaminated and it was too heavy for me to salvage. Centreboard seems to be in alright condition though so if anyone needs one (free) its here (Kingscliff)

Probably should clarify it's a dagger board not a centreboard
