Where are the good spots for windsurfing Bribie Island in the current conditions ? (20 knot NE)...I may be going there today for a party.

2 spots in a northerly that I frequented back in the day.

turners camp road on the mainland heading toward Bribie bridge. turn left about 2km before you hit the bridge. gets a pumping northerly. careful of oyster beds up where the passage splits to the west.

the lookout at Woorim. head to Woorim, turn right before hitting bluey's then 1km down Boyd road is a car park on your left up on the ridge overlooking the bay. smoking spot.

try and get in touch with Will Johnson. I think he spends time there.

Do you reckon that carpark at Woorim would be packed out today considering the heat and G20 escapees today ?

nope, it's dead.

beautiful spot. we held wanderers meet there and now its the freerace spot. I looked on a map again and 2km is too far. more like 1km.

it was my local spot at one time.

Bribie southern end is dependent on tide, make sure you check out the direction of tidal flow.

Surfside was choppy as. Went back to Pumicestone Passage and sailed about a km North of the bridge. Just near the entrance to a Canal estate at the North end of Sylvan Beach esplanade. It was good. Long runs across the passage and back.

yeah the wind funnels through there.

turner camp road is over the other side of the passage from there so gets even better wind.

I'll keep that in mind for next time I'm up that way. Didn't see any other windsurfers (or kites) till later in the arvo when there was one solitary guy outside the surf club.

Dead flat water at low tide. Wind funnels to that area. Awesome spot!!!

Yeah mate. Best sail I've had in a long time. Even John didn't know you could go in that far.
Was really good to see how much you are progressing too!! Won't be long and you'll be tearing around like that.
Will see you at Cootharaba Friday and Saturday.

That looks like a better spot. A bit more "onshore". I had no idea where to go so I left from the other side as shown by red arrow . It was still good though.

Yeah, it's a bit of a slog out into the wind there, but its the same wind that's funneling over to the other side.
I think it's just a little unnerving to go that far into Ningi Creek, but at low tide you can see all obstructions and it's a great speed strip.
Once sailed at low, then you know your way around at high.
