had a quick session at the northern end of the passage on sunday. sailing from boat hire out to the bar.
it was pumping but who'd have thought so being so close to the buildings. the water up there was dead flat. like burrum flat. got gusty as I got towards the bar itself.
well worth a look if the tides are high.......
Yes how does that work with N being so close to the buildings ? Tis bad enough down on the speed bank
towards the mouth of the river it was very light. but back in to the passage it was pumping. if you move the yellow line up the page so it brushes the top of the middle bank that's the run.
with an outgoing tide it would have bee nvery bumpy in the channel but as the tide was running in it was dead flat.
Is this where you mean Gesty? Many kites about?
not a kite in sight!!!! it would have been way too gusty to kite because of the buildings
yeah you could be right.
I was also thinking it might be the first place the wind touches down after going over the top of buildings.
I won't say it isn't gusty as everywhere up there is gusty in that direction but it was strong and very flat. what is not apparent on the aerial images is how big the area is.
I was just trying to get tot he bar. I was very nervous launching at bulcock because it was dead offshore and light so I pulled the pin. I dropped into golden beach to maybe have a sail and then launched at the boat hire because it looked so good and I had a straight line out to the bar.
i'll give it another go at some point.
