Southerly on the cards, 12 noon high tide.
At the one design meet a few of us were talking hitting pebble beach in the next southerly.
I'm keen to give it a go Saturday. Aiming for 10.30
Sounds interesting - did enjoy the sail there the other week. However, wont be able to make it as I'll be on "taxi" duty on Saturday running my daughter around town.
Have a great time.
Just to clarify. This is not a one design meet. It's a let's go blasting somewhere else for a change thing.
Bugger!!! Going to be a good day for sure. Another brand new 2015 model Simmer SCR has arrived, with better mast's, and I have to go visit Mum for weekend.
It suck's, it suck's, it suck's!!!!!!
bugger dags!
next time then.
a coupe of guys have asked for directions. dags could you fill us in on the reef you found..... twice....
I hope to make it - Do you rig at the car park at Oxley Place, Sandstone point or over on Bribie?
Cheers
David
Rig on nice lush grass next to the beach off Oxley Place. Will be very obvious when you arrive there.
Im on early afternoon shift so not looking good for me - pity as its my favourite hangout
Cheers Jeff
Have Fun
That's a shame Jeff. Hey do you guys have to wear boots there? I remember the other side on Bribie was all sand but from the look of that its shallow and perhaps a bit rocky on sandstone pt. Great spot Bribie lots of sea turtles and dolphins. I've only sailed there twice but it was amazing both times. Does the tide run out of both ends of the pumice stone passage or will it go flat after high tide?
no need for booties unless you wander off into the no go zones.
it's all sand with a bit of mud here and there. kinda like thompsons beach.
it is fairly flat for kilometres until you get out towards the red marker. there is a bank out there you can wave sail but it's a big effort to get out that far upwind.
the only other place with swell is in the actual passage itself over at Bongaree which is about 500m wide.
it can get awesome big in there. makes shearwater look like a lake. but that's only on a real big day of wind and you can gybe before getting there.
all up there is probably about a 2km run of flatish water. the more SW the wind the flatter the water.
something the speed guys might be interested in is Gilligan's island. you need a boat to get there but it's very open to the wind and off the southern tip so it gets the full forces. you need a low tide and it's fairly sharky.
next time moz!
if anyone wants some shots tomorrow give me a yell. I'll have my camera gear with me and if you agree not to wet me I will wade out into water with a 50mm or 24mm lens for some laydown gybe action.
just please don't wet me.
Pebble beach great one day perfect the next
Won't be able to make Saturday sandstone however after some graft and corruption I have swapped to late shift Sunday 2pm start.
Mid morning blast at sandstone - better wind than Saturday. Genuine SE promised.
Sailing 2 days in a row anybody???
Cheers Jeff
two hours either side of high tide in the spring tides is ok, low tide is pretty much no go at pebble beach. For low tide sailing you need to go across the bridge and channel to Bongaree - just past the jetty and take the museum turnoff and then go to the end of the street.
You can rig all along the street or on the block behind the end car park. Toilets are at the museum end of the street.

Yeah, what a bummer. Especially after just purchasing it just several minute's before hand. And a brand new Choco too!!!
Hey mate, Gilligan's isn't there any more, is it?
Hope you all have fun tomorrow. Look's like it's going to be a blast. Spewing!!!!!!
Bongaree should go right off tomorrow, for those who can't make high tide. The wind is also a bit better over there too.
