ignore the yellow seabreeze graphs for the Sunny Coast..its been yellow to peakin green, yesterday was +24 in the gusts, same today
read somewhere crew spewing about gusty crappy winds where they were on the sunny coast, need to step outside the comfort zone get out in open waters to get the best of the wind!!
Sunday was only 12-14 late in the arvo but on the open waters with room to play pretty easy to find some gusts and maintain some pace.
Putting the Atom and new Cheetah through their paces, so nice out the back through the swells, with a BP fin it's a great set up in 13-25knts.
2nd pic is of another 'secret open water spot on the coast, NE flat as on the inside , few little ramps for fun, perfect cross shore, easy sailing really, there is life outside the pond and lakes, and no neck breaking sandbars!, if your not too confident wear a life jacket and sail with a buddy, but windsurfing is way better with open space!
So true Jonesy, I sail in the bay at Redcliffe, its open and gets the wind. Could have been third day in a row today cept for family commitments but hoping to get out there again tomorrow. Fingers crossed
Just had three awesome days in a row at Redcliffe. Sunday on a 6.8, Monday and Tuesday on a 5.3. No lack of wind here and lots of choppy ramps. Looks like Friday could be on again!!
with 15min spare for a sail this arvo, I got lured into the lovely view of a glistening cotton tree, plenty of wind (except where it counted as it seems!) flat water heaps of kites buzzing about...tide doing the right thing..awesome....????
Could have sworn I was doing a totally different sport to the days before ...windsurfing in there is a great advertisement for kitesurfing! enough said!
Back to the open water with some luck tomorrow.
And yes I am reading the Epirb thread in 'general'...just waiting on the final recommendation from the in the know crowd!
we're already at november and so far it's been a bit of a fizzer on the goldcoast.
i wonder if it will be better after christmas, ending up a kind of reverse pattern of what we've had the last couple of seasons with post chrissy having better southerlies in the new year? we had great northerlies prior to christmas the last two years
Just done four days straight at Redcliffe. Some of it has been very good indeed. You've got to like your chop boom-high though.
