The only new Fanatic Falcon shapes that have changed are the 98 which has a new outline, 1lt less volume and 1cm wider and new Falcon Speed 52.2 all other boards in the range stay the same with the exception of the 136 and 129 having been beefed up in the tail area for approved foil use. And of course new flashy paint jobs for all.

Nice one Rick. Here are a couple of Steve Walshes boards. Mine are on the way. He got 44 knots today on the 52 and just under 41 on the 89.

Rick, you mean 136-129 exactly same 2017 shape with just reinforced fin box or boards are fatter in tail zone (getting also the fin box reinforced for foil use)? Thank you

p.s. Wasn't the 99 2017 already 63 cm wide?

136 and 129 exactly same shape as 2017 with fin box area reinforced for foiling.

Any chance you could make a small video and put a straight edge on the 89 and 114 and show how much v and concave ?
Like Goya does.

@COL5555, don't you have a 2017 Flacon of the same size? The shapes remain unchanged.
I do feel a bit sorry for all who don't buy the 2017 boards now, if there where any ;-)

Hi Shinobi. I'm on 16 Isonics which are very different in v and concave to the 17's

2018 98 vs 2017 99
Tail appears to be a little more pulled in, cutouts slightly bigger, and side wings gone. Similar to what Fanatic did with the 2016 90 when it got replaced by the 2017 89.

No problem, use a 36-37 fin.
I use a 37 Tectonics Matrix.

98 = ABSOLUTE WEAPON!!

This is a copy of the famous maui blitzer 89 model. So a new model in this size and its super fast and controllable. I used a fury 34 and it was sweet on all points of sail with a 6.3 F2017

haven't tried the 136 yet been too windy or none at all.

I have had three sessions now on the Falcon 89 and I have to say I am thrilled with it! Sailed it on ocean and river with 6.3, 7.0 and 7.7, using a Tectonics Talon 32 fin. The fin balances well and has no trouble getting the board upwind on the 6.3 and 7.0, though I think an extra 1-2cm worth of fin would help on the breeze with the 7.7.

The board itself is quick by being very easy to stay on. Feet stay in the straps and the board has no tendency to tail walk - remaining nice and flat through nasty chop and this gives a lot of confidence to drive it harder. We all know confidence = speed!

When gybing the board seems to do everything you expect it to and nothing you don't. You can step hard on the tail or lean right forward and it will continue to turn, unlike some of the other slalom boards out there which can be quite technical to gybe.

If it has any weakness, all I can find is that it feels a little sticky when underpowered; it planes up easily enough but doesn't really sit up on the tail until there is a bit of juice applied through the sail - but who wants to sail underpowered anyway? Better to have a board that fills you with confidence when you are fully juiced, and that is where this board excels!

Recently bought the 98 and this board rocks. Only been on it a few times but feels awesome. Its basically an upscale of the 89 but gives you that bit more float, especially planning out of the jibes 6.2 and 7.0 are the perfect size sails for this magic board.......
