GW60 Warranty

GW60 wristband broke.Luckily I was on the beach when it fell off my wrist. I bought the watch in July 2017, so still under warranty. I've probably used it 20 times. I've looked after the watch and it's in great condition. No impacts, not even a mark on it.
Photos were sent to Locosys. they said "Since the watch was okay previously, we assume it has been damaged by the user and will not offer a replacement."
I have emailed Locosys in Singapore to see if they'll honour the warranty. Will update when I get a response.

Doesn't look fixable to me, but at least it wasn't the antenna that broke off, so it should still work in a pouch. It looks like it may no longer be waterproof.

I'm with you Tim
lost first watch when band busted while sailing
sat on number 2 watch and cracked the bands
number 3 watch has now cracked and separated at the antenna and finally broken

So 3 watches 3 Broken bands

will post pics tonight

Water proof - seems so at the moment - watches still working

any suggestions for a wrist based pouch??

Of course not ideal but maybe you can fix/glue it into something like underneath....better than not use it:).

The warranty is provided by the seller in Australia not Locosys. Send the photo to who you bought it from and ask for it to be repaired or replaced

You should be covered under consumer guarantee, regardless of warranty.

www.accc.gov.au/consumers/consumer-rights-guarantees/consumer-guarantees

Products must be of acceptable quality, that is:
safe, lasting, with no faults
look acceptable
do all the things someone would normally expect them to do

It is normal to expect to be able to wear a watch without the band breaking and rendering the watch unusable.

Photos of my broken gw60 watches





I sat on the watch with both arms Broken - still water proof
the empty box represents the coffin that was my watch that broke a band while sailing = gone

the watch with single band slowly developed a tear around the Gps aerial- finally let go the other day

Reaseaching wrist based cases at moment

havent contacted locosys yet to see if replacement bands available

same locally, brand new locosys lost both sides just after removing charging cable, never used yet !!!
two other guys with the same issue

No plastic bands ever survive salt water. Metal is the only way. I had a Swatch Watch in the 80's and it slowly crumbled away. Nothing since has done any better.

You haven't listened to the the GPS legends, it's either IN your arse or on your head to have reliable data. What were you thinking of, wearing a watch on the wrist hahaha. What a piece of sh#t.

Just checked I first used my Gw60 on 11 dec 2016, it gone faultlessly since, not sure how many ks it's done but could be about 5,000km.

Does sound like they are a bit delicate though and need careful handling.

my g shock has been going about 4 years sailing every weekend and used as my everyday watch

Bummer about the wrist band. My experience with Locosys on warranty and repairs has been quite frustrating, too. I eventually got one watch that was obviously not functioning replaced under warranty, after many emails, pictures, and videos of the issue. The replacement watch I received does not have backlight on the LCD screen, and the GPS button is very hard to press, but I did not want to go through the hassle of trying to return it again. The dealer was quite helpful in the warranty claim, but everything going back and forth always went from Locosys to the dealer and then to me, which made the process even slower. Not quite as slow as getting a definitive answer from them about a broken screen repair, though - it took them months before they eventually said the repair would cost about as much as a new watch, after adding the shipping costs.

I can't understand why a company like Locosys would make it so difficult to honour warranty claims. I'm currently dealing with their office in Singapore to get a replacement. In Australia, we have a government authority called the ACCC( Australian Competition and Consumer Commission), set up to protect the rights of consumers in regards to guarantees, warranties and refunds. I'll be referring my case to them if Locosys won't honour the warranty. Paddymac in his comment above sums it up well.

Is this band plastic ???!!!!
Even cheap watches have silicon rubber bands !!!!
you can't have a plastic band, it won't last in the sun and salt water.

Hi AUS4,
It looks like a silicon rubber composite. I suggested to Locosys that a mechanical hinge would be stronger. Or even embedding a Kevlar mesh inside the band when they are moulded it.

My Suunto Ambit 3 strap also broke after a few months.
Looks like the same case and strap as the GW60 .
I dont think these straps like the sun.
Ordered a generic from Hong Kong which arrived in a few days and fits fine.

Mate it is the responsibility of the place you bought the watch from to replace it , and then they have to take it up with locosys.. you shouldn't have to deal with that side of things..

Had a look at the Suunto strap - it's 2 piece and a little different

The gw60 looks removable as a 1 piece unit as per the test video above

will see if I can get a spare - however after loosing a watch that let go on the water I think I'm going the case/bag option
