Absolutely great foil sail, 2019/2020 model. I have used it no more than 20 times and it is literally falling apart. The bottom window panel started to crack and a couple of weeks back I was just pumping the sail and it tore from top to bottom. It's like the mono has become brittle. Also the top of the bottom zipper ripped and tore the sail. Bloody pathetic. The rest of the sail is pristine. I usually leave the salt water on it and leave it standing up in the shed to dry. Every now and then I wash it with tank water.

I have emailed Neil Pryde twice and tried through Facebook book with no reply. Trying to get a reason why such an expensive sail is so crap. I bought it second hand so can't take it back. I'm interested to know if anyone else has had similarities to mine. I certainly won't be purchasing another Pryde. Be careful if you are thinking of purchasing them, zero after sale service. My old Severnes have taken a beating over the years but are still useable which is saying something. the big white Aus stickers was holding it together so I could still sail.

In some ways you are right to be annoyed by their build quality but in others I'd also say that its a full on race sail and built with the lightest materials for the best performance.

I would suggest taking it to a decent sail maker and getting them to put in an x-ply panel for you.

To repair the luff panel is a pain as you have to unpick it and try and get it flat but someone who is experienced could do a nice job.

Sorry to hear that mate.
I have used both second hand and new NP sails for the last 15 years without issues, including the latest '19 and '20 models. The only difference worth stating is the models I use are Wizards, Combats and Zones which are inherently designed to be abused, which they are.
The problem with second-hand gear is that you will never know what they went through.

It was only used a few times when I got it, like new

I sewed in a new panel from a couple of years old Severne that has taken a beating, funny thing is that the repair is better than the Pryde sail. Also Pryde just fobbed me off so I'll never buy their brand again WHAT A JOKE !!!!!!

I was warned by an old time windsurfer to never buy a sail with monofilm, cause if it cracked it could leave you stranded. So always bought 100% x-ply sails from Aerotech, have almost their whole Freespeed line, just missing the 5.0.
