There will be 5 sizes of the Reactor: 79, 82, 87, 92 and 99. Available in Carbon and Wood, as always, with new graphics. The Reactor has a lot of nose width, a compact outline, a quad fin setup and a very very fast rocker!
any idea why the smallest size is so big? seems like small riders wont be able to ride this board? unless it being so compact means you can ride 5-10l bigger than usual? or is the compact outline, big volume and very fast rocker hinting at a board for marginal days?

The 79 which is going to be pretty dam short. Lol. So will be interesting on how they promote the board for what conditions.
I recon they will be a great east Coast board.
Can't wait ??
this seams to be quite the trend this year with both fanatic and now JP making similar boards. I even saw something similar from quatro when I was in their maui shop in the works for 2016-2017. any thoughts on why the sudden shift?

Why the sudden shift? ? I'm guessing that marketing speak and decal changes can only go so far to sell new boards, so something a bit more radical to stir the pot and help us part with our $$$. :)
Hi,
has anyone more specs from 99 liter reactor ? thanks in advance !

I'd like to know to but I'm pretty sure it will be similar to the 92 just slightly thicker like the quads.
Thou if someone knows please let us know.

Just found this can't wait for the 99L
5 volumes offered: 79 (210 x 58.5), 82 (212 x 59.5), 87 (214 x 61.5), 92 (219 x 63.5) and 99 liters (219 x 65.5).
OES have been onto this concept for a good few years now:
Here's the board stats for a few different sizes:
Hot Rod Quad 97 Length 219cm Width 62cm Volume 97L
Hot Rod Quad 92 Length 218cm Width 60cm Volume 92L
Hot Rod Quad 87 Length 217cm Width 59cm Volume 87L
Hot Rod Quad 82 Length 216cm Width 58cm Volume 82L

yea I've seen the idea around for awhile now. It will be interesting to see what all the company's decide to do differently. As far as bottom shapes and tail widths.
I love ive the idea of of these boards having good displacment for float and ride and then pretty thin rails and tails so you can lay them down for turns. Sounds like the perfect east coast board to me. Lol.
I do like that there has been a lot of influence and direct rrd in the starboard reactor from jaeger and his dad at SSD they are very much onto it as far as surfing style wave boards. (and if I can just look like him maybe it will rub off some of his skill to bahahahahaha, I can dream)
Thanks wintortree,
yes the 99L !!!
No worries. Only just realised I got it from the same site that barri posted so he beat me to it. :)
ive vey got a 99L on order now the waiting game. :(

Loving all the innovation in wave sailing at the moment, revisiting old designs, new materials and shapes.
Starboard Nuevo/Chopper has been a revelation for me, can't wait to give some of these new shapes a go.

Yea I've had a great experience with the NUevo to. It has got to the stage that windsurf boards feel like your surfing and drive off your front foot like a surf board does. And I think the reactor is going to be along that line as well.

Hey WindWarrior, make sure you put a review of your new board up, that looks like a super fun board. Cheers.
Looks like Windmag.com - the French mag is doing a test review of the Reactor in it's next issue. If anyone is getting a copy and knows French it would be cool to hear what they have to say about it. Yep seen the clip and basic blurb on their website, but would be good to hear a full test review.
I've tried the 82l wood version a some month ago together with the Kode wave 78 2016 and the quad 84 from 2015.
All very different boards, the Reactor was unbelievable fast on the plane and tracking upwind even better than the Kode. down the line, the Reactor offered good drive and the cutback didn't require any foot pressure. Coming from the Kode, I needed to be more sensitive, what a board!
I look forward to try the bigger models, especially the 99, I imagine it must be unreal performance for a wave board.
(Used with 4.5m Icon, very gusty side shore wind with head high weaves, me being 88kg)

did it feel crazy short

Did you get to compare their jumping abilities?
Actually I'm not the greatest jumper out there, as a slalom biased person, I tend to avoid jumping most of the time.
From what I felt, the Kode is still a little bit better than the Reactor but only for a small margin. Note: my Kode was a number smaller than the reactor but due to the reactors width it gets up planning very early and hen tracks upwind with an unreal performance.
Jumping with the Quad? Well this is another thing due to the planning characteristics, when I was flying with the Kode and reactor, the quad was still hanging in the water, once planing and powered up, the quad is also no issue to jump but it just takes that little more time and wind.
Just wondering how it felt being so short in regards to tacking and gybes - did it feel well balanced or did you really notice the short length and have to adjust your technique with it?????
Gybing went very easy and comfortable but I didn't even considered tacking but it should be possible because the nose looks quite floaty, not like the iSonic noses, ;-)
When not powered up some concentration is required to keep the short nose over the water but I've only used he board for 2hr ish...
The most wired feeling was actually walking down the beach and looking at the board, on the water, it is still windsurfing after all.
