I have been looking for a sail with lots of low end to get you up and planning. I decided to try out the Sailloft Traction 8.5. Sailloft marked this as a early planning sail and is only made in sizes 7.5 and above. It has 2 cams and rigs on a SDM 490. Sailloft has a reputation for building durable sails with the use of lots of xply however with the Traction they have not done this with the traction in an attempt to reduce the weight at the top of the sail and improve the swing rate. However it still has a good covering of Xply at the bottom and middle of the sail.

I received it today and went down to Canton for a sail however sods law the wind dropped out as I rigged. Well at least I got to rig the sail and have a look at it. It rigged to specs. I missed out on trying the sail out so will report back after I have got it on the water.
