Don't like anything with flex written on it. The last major brand that cut out carbon / kevlar / innegra etc cos they reckon they liked the feel and flex, all fell to bits due to that very same flex.... and hmmm was it more a cost decision....?

Also unsure from the pic, but looks like the same outrageously thin footpads I was very disappointed with on my new RRD.

Have they got a real vent plug yet?

But yeah, nice looking

I have a few of the new Simmer Cortex V1 boards coming to Perth within a few weeks.

Come and have a look at those new exciting wave boards.
Or even better - give it a test ride and let us get some 'real' gear reviews :)

There is a bit more 'pre info'here on sizes, construction etc.:
simmerstyle.com.au/collections/boards-v1/products/cortex

Mark: It would be great if you could come by as well to have a look and also take it for a test ride as your feedback after testing the product would be valuable.

I hear you on your comments above.

I'm pretty sure the 'Flex' don't mean cost cutting or weaker boards, but more like a refined layup of the carbon etc., in the right places.

Haven't seen the foot pads in real life, but pretty sure the team riders / development team would have chosen the right ones.

For the went plug, - I think you might refer to some problems 4-5 years ago when Simmer had a board production at a different factory and there was some problems with the plugs? So far I haven't heard or seen any problems concerning this on the never generation boards from last year or this year.

Great you like the look of them, - that's positive :)

That's got coronation beach written all over it! What fin configuration will they come with out of the box?

Whatever you want, so long as you like slot boxes, they have 5 boxes each.

The out of the box fin set up is thruster fins.
The Quad or Twin fin set up is the recommended sizes if you prefer this set up.

Just a quick note that I now got the new Simmer Cortex in 78L, 84L, 90L in my workshop.

It would be great to demo them out and get some real feedback. I tested all 3 sizes and is fully impressed,, :)
But don't take my word for it and test them out yourself

Had a demo on the new quantum last week same footpads as this board and I really could not tell the difference from other brands pads but I do wear booties. Also the simmer foot straps seem to be a lot better.

Hi Uwe

To be honest then I didn't pay to much attention to the foot pads on my first times out on the boards.

Normally I would know if something is feeling slightly 'off' and then make a mental note of it.

But thinking back at the sessions, I can't recall that I thought that the foot pads was either to thin, less grippy, placed wrong or anything slightly negative.

Your welcome to come and have a look / or demo on of the boards.

I will pay more attention next time out :)

Hi there just got my new simmer cortex 85, wonder if anyone has sailed it. If so, would love some first impressions, for me to be prepared. Just looking at it got me intimidated as it looks much smaller than anything I have sailed so far. Is it difficult to come on the plane? Would you sail it with a 5,3 sail?

Hi yxz3960

Not sure what board you sailed before or what you would compare too?

Don't be intimidated by this board / size. It is super easy to get on the plane and will carry a 5.3 with no problems.
It don't feel smaller than a 84L board, even with the reduced length and width.
Let us know when you had some water time on it :)

Hi yxz3960

If you compare with the Quantum 85 G3

You will find the Simmer Cortex 84L get's going earlier with it's faster rocker + parallel outline.
It feels like you have a lot of control at all times over the board when jumping or just sailing around.

I had a good session again the other day on the 84L and just love everything about it so far.
Wave riding seams smooth and easy and you can just throw it around like you desire.

I haven't tested this, but would not be to surprised if you could even use a 5.6 some days,,
