Vando,
Interested on your thoughts as to why they went for a straight vee the entire length on the iS90 and not a transition into a double concave like its brothers. (Maybe Cobra forgot to cnc machine the concaves in )

Not sure snags suppose they think it works better in that size/shape

Yes I was wondering the same thing when I saw that on their website. Actually the 2013 90 had a flat vee. The new boards look sweet.

You have to wonder if releasing new models each year is more about money than improved performance.

Every three years sounds about right to me.

Love the 15 paint scheme. Getting a new 110 and 97 just cause I want to not cause I need to. Not much change to the 14 models by the look of it? That said, the new shape 80 and 87 look interesting. Would the 80 be a good speed board for those choppy days?

As much change as any other year. Yes the 80 be good speed board for you & our conditions, futura 93 wouldn't go astray for days like yesterday either

Just pickend up my new 130 iSonic, looking nice!
Some tweaks here and there, most noticeable changes in the rail and the area behind the fin got smaller again.

Yes appeals like it, but checking the details, it is quite different.
For example, starboard is coloring the cut outs as well ;-)
==> it all comes down to the package and how each shape detail blends play together with the other ones.
I tried a 105 Rrd v6 the other day any it felt completely different to my iSonic 107, but it is also a different board size and I'm used to the iSonics.

Hi Vando,
Here is a pic of a some more iSonics, all very nice.

Today was the first outing with the 130 + r5 9,6 and a 48cm FHOT fin. Note, I'm a sponsored rider of Starboard Japan, still this is my honest opinion.
The new 130 is so much easier in higher wind and in the jibes, it feels like a Futura but with the potential of an iSonic. Well done Starboard and thanks to Remi for the product. The accessibility of the 2014 130 in stronger winds was a concern for me in the past...

We had 3 races today and I could easily take 3 bullets which felt unreal compared to my other results this season. On the other hand, it was not a race which counts for the ranking but still a whole bunch of good riders where present to compete. By the way, place 2&3 went also to a 2015 130...
All riders different weight (88kg, 80kg, 62kg) and sails ( R5 9.6, R5 9.0, OD 8.6). The fin choice was also quite interesting (48cm fhot, 46cm Kashy, 46cm zfin).
As you can see very impressed with the new board and I'll post some more thoughts once I got it out in different conditions.

Here is a short clip from our slalom competition.

One correction to my post above, the 80kg is in reality only 67kg, despite being 5cm taller than me.

My 2015 iS97 vs 2014 iS97

The 15 has a more pulled in tail. Looks a bit 90ish don't you think? I rode it yesterday but the wind was only 13-15kts so couldn't notice a lot of difference to last years board.

The 2015 iS110 vs 2014 iS110

The 15 is 0.5kg heavier, although I think my 14 was an exceptionally light one.

Sailed the 15 yesterday in 12-14kts with a 7.8OD and 43 Vmax. Nice, a smidge slower acceleration and less liveliness as you would expect with a heavier board. However it got up on the fin nicely and had less board flutter across the chop which may be due to the extra weight and/or slightly pulled in tail.

Also, the 15 looks bigger, thicker, more volume, but I don't think it is? Maybe just the new graphics create that effect?

Steve, the boards look very impressive. I ordered a 2014 107 about six weeks back, and was told this week it is still at least 3 weeks away (4 weeks by the time it gets up here to Darwin.
Are you happy with the 110, or could you have gone a 107? I'm can still change, and am a tad indecisive on the size.

Bluesun,

so you've ordered a 2015 110?

I'm happy with the 110. I have a 97 too. The 107 would be the one to get if you just wanted the one isonic.

How big a sail do you typically run? The 107 sweet spot is the 7.8, the 110 is the 7.8 and 8.6. Gets my 80kgs planing in about 12kts. Depends on how light a wind you want to sail in. How heavy are you?

The 2014 Starboard iSonic 87 has always been included in the ISAF List but is not registered for the PWA

Sorry for the typo (sent from my phone).
I ordered a 2015 107. Am 80kg.

Was intending to have just the one isonic initially (changing from fanatic).
I mostly use 7.8 and to a lesser extent 8.6 (sail it slightly overpowered).
Also, just bought Fury fins in 38 and 41.

This time of the year is mostly get 12-15knts.
Just wish it would get here sooner.
Every day there is wind and warm flat water by the time it finally arrives, the buildup storms will likely be starting.
Crocs and stingers don't bother me, but lightening and carbon rigs tend to keep me off the water.

I think the 2015 107 is a great choice with your weight, especially if its your only board. The 6.2 will work really well on that board as well in powered up conditions.
