I'm getting back into sail boarding after a long break
I want to just blast around, get consistent at gybing and have fun .... I guess user friendly, lumpy bay conditions, 12 to 25 kts and I'm about 75kg
I'm looking at a 115 litre s type .... anyone had fun on one of these in the past?
i'd go something around 96L. when it gets a bit gusty the 115 will seem a little too floaty in the chop. With the 96L you can change fins to suit the conditions low to high winds. I think perfect for your size. I'm the same weight and have a 96L which was recommended to me, i also have a 87L when it gets a bit crazy. Loads of fun on both

i had the 115 s type a few years ago, i'm around the same weight as you and had just got back into windsurfing after 15 years.
its a great board if your into going fast in a straight line. it's not an easy board to gybe, needs full commitment in the gybes or it just wants to go straight.
Plenty other boards that would be better suited if your wanting to get back into it, especially improving your gybes, probably a Freeride or FSW, if your considering getting into the surf.
Also as vpar said 115 would be a bit of a handful in the stronger conditions, and fin size can increase the range of a smaller board heaps.

You're both quick! ..... I had a feeling some may suggest going a bit smaller!
I've tried a 122 l slalom board .... I sailed it in 25kts and did a few big spills (mainly trying to get in the back straps) ..... guess I was "out of control!!!"
I'll see what else is on offer .... I thought keeping some volume was being conservative so I could uphaul easily to save myself.

I have a 126L S Type and goes very well in chop or flat water and gybes like a dream!
Sail sizes I have used on it have been 8.6m to 6.3m and fins from 36cm weedy to 23 cm weedy, it has been a great all round board and my Alpha PB is on this board. I weigh 105 kg.
Enjoy your time on the water it is great fun and highly addictive!

Hey I've been windsurfing for not even a year now, started on a 145, then after a few months I got a JP xcite 110l but I recently got adiviced by a more experienced mate that I should keep pushing myself, so I actually traded the 145 for a FSW RRD 90l... What a blast! this thing feels like a BMX compared to a truck! Granted you'll need more wind but those boards are perfect for choppy conditions and very easy to gybe. I'm the same weight as you so don't hesitate to try one, you'll love it.
