Four days into nine on Mauritius and the strongest wind has been 8-10 knots not enough to get on the outer reef Marawa which is about two k's out the back as the wind drops the further out you go..........................and just enough wind to make it an uncomfortable surf on the paddle board.........................the forecast for the next 3 days looks the same then it drops to nothing..........and Prue told me if wind is all I worry about life can't be too bad....................

YO..... BH I was wondering why you didn't join the crowds at Lagoon for the double header on the weekend......how was the Maldives ? did you get to grips with the multihull sailing thing?

It sound tough there H-man ....do they at least have a trampoline at the resort so you can fine tune those rotations?

Ben F I think I remember those pics you posted last year bit different to now except the last they're one more consistent than the wind. I've resiigned myself to exploring the island and forgetting the wind. Hoover sounds like you scored on the Maldives?? Al that's my mum on the tramp....you been stalking her?

Scored a good one today 20kts decent swell round waste to head high on Little Reef pretty clean early then went messy at high tide. Went out onto the bombie got cleaned up by mast and half set gear took off left me swimming frickin lonely out there on my own 2 k's off shore no board. Don't often sh.t myself but I did this time, I'm old unfit stupid tired not a good swimmer after a long swim got to my board thought then be good to pack it in while alive....................they did tell me not to go out on my own

sav911 the forecast looks good for next week I've just struck unusual weather.

So against the advice of the locals you soloed 2K offshore, found some mast and a half waves to ride, stuffed one up and ended up swimming out in the Indian ocean without your kit for a while......eventually got back to your gear and sailed back in.....that's Awesome with a Capital A... and a little silly....I am sure there is a lesson there somewhere but I just cant think what it is at the mo.....you definitely deserve a Darwin Award...

Could be worse, the Reunion Island government 143 miles away has banned swimming in the ocean all together due to an excessive number of shark attacks

Pretty awesome swell out the back at least mast high for the whole week just need consistent wind to get there. Yesterday wasn't too bad enough for a play around on Little Reef. Today no wind so it was 'high tea' on a plantation (you did suggest I be sensible) a touch more sophisticated than a beer at Dorans.

Man down at Manawa. Yes people do dissapear there though not necessarilly from shark attack,,,,,, more the current is always heading out to sea through the channel but on the reef its kind of static on the inside at manawa. One good day on those silver blue walls is worth the trip, hope you score . One eye is a whole step up from manawa as you are witnessing.......need more time to do that gig, even if you have cut your teeth at The Bol, but then again if you can handle Bol ,,,,,you could handle it maybe ..... On a smallish day.........just to see the massive waves barreling down chameoux through to one eyes is a sight to behold........ Check the Sega dancers for cultural treat too

I was prohibited from going out on One Eye because too many sailors trash the gear on the reef. I did tell him I was a trustworthy fellow and I'd look after their gear like I look after my own, but..........................
Anyway now back in Tas and looking forward to the action Friday night at Dorans

yes Mistral centre are very conservative with hire kit, they must have been peaking when you snuck out to Manawa
