Sorry Team Tas but there's something in there that has to come out. So waiting in hospital for surgeons to have a look. Not sure if that's it for me race wise or not yet.
Very sorry to hear that Kazza, that's so unbelievably unlucky. Fingers crossed you'll be up and running after doc and back at Green tomorrow
Surgery all done. It was blue coral. Not allowed in water for 2 weeks, so that's all over for me. After being in the same ward as cancer patients I'm feeling pretty lucky
I heard a Queenslander peaked 42kts out there today.
Rotten luck Kazza, and yes there will always be someone worse off - but 2 years in a row and not allowed in the water for 2 weeks in tropical Northern Queensland - that just sucks.
Sorry to hear that Karen, you were absolutely flying out there yesterday. Such a shame. Hope to catch up before you go gone, and that the cut heals quickly.
Kazza can't believe it you trained so hard and would have given them all a run for their money but as usual you look on the bright side not many could.
Lots of tears have been shead Ant & probably more to come. But better out than in Can't believe a little piece of coral can do so much destruction, had my brand new booties on too.
You should all be very proud of Buzzy & Dave they are doing sooooooo well. The conditions have been very much like home.......goin off!!! but without the big gusts. So these 2 are in their element
Gooooooo guys
Yesterday's slalom results are up on GI website. Kaleb came 2nd overall
Freerace I think Kaleb won again
I know as much as you now, not going back out there until Friday, not allowed to walk for few days.
Ouch look at all those wires and tubes bad luck after sailing over razor sharp oysters all summer ,to have it happen on first day still
claim it on travel insurance and have a couple
more weeks in the sun and warmth than the rest of us down here
Kaz you definitely on drugs, can you take Furo's advice and stay up there for a couple of weeks?
Hows the rest of our team going? Jodi's Facebook put's Buzzy up near the front. How are you going Dave?
Don't know what to write. Except, we have had an awesome 3 days sailing in amazing conditions. Dave and I are both fully stoked, but feeling for Kazza who we want to be here to enjoy the good times. Looks like Slalom is over for 2014. Sean Obrien has once again proven to be an exceptional sailor to take away the crown. Rowen Law from WA nearly stole it away, but didn't quite get the result in the last final to edge Sean out. Both these guys have amazing talent, with exceptional skills at race starts, gybing and astounding board speed, that's why they are at the top.
Round 3 of Free Race today and it looks like I managed a 1st and Dave close behind in 2nd for the day. Might be round 4 tomorrow.
Final Slalom, Dave finished 9th and I placed 3rd
Good stuff Buzzy congrats and well done Dave right up there both of you making us proud
Thinking of you Kazza you were going well too hope you get to have a good sail before you come home.
Go hard boys ,think of cold weather extremes , must sail hard and fast to keep warm. = first, and second, place, too easy, good stuff.
Bad luck kazza, is that an uphaul across the bed
Go tassie
No its an umbilical cord actually.
Well done Dave and Kaleb you have done Tassie proud. Bad luck Kazza but you have also done us proud and I am sure you will be back next year with booties made of steel.
I'm holding onto 3rd in Slalom by one point over Luke Bailey. They are running another three tables today. It's going to be really tough!
I blew it But had awesome fun in great conditions against the country's top sailors. Great learning experience once again.
