Anyone keen to try Henty this Friday? Not sure that I can yet and depends how the forecast develops, but if it looks like being NW tending SW around the middle of the day at around 20 knots, then I'm quite keen to give it a try. Good way to start the new month! Sunday may be better, but forecast is further out and so difficult to tell. I'd probably drive up early Friday and maybe stay Friday night.

I have been hobbling around for the past 4 days with bad pain in my right leg just above the ankle. Went to the doc and apparently its severe shin splints. So I will be out of action for a few weeks. Well at least a week or 2.

That's no good Steve!! Hope the leg fixes up OK!!

Friday is still looking pretty good for Henty if anyone else is interested. Not epic, but be good to get some nice long flat-water runs in.

Steve what have you been doing to get shin splints? Running, aerobic classes, I know.... you've taken up Zumba, I can just see you swaying those hips

All I can think that caused it was sailing 5 hours nonstop last Tues. But I felt fine until Fri, doc said it's a repetitive strain injury. I like the idea it may have been caused by doing Zumba. Feeling much better now though.

Forecast is still looking pretty good for some flat water sailing at Henty. I'm leaving at around 3AM so I can be there by about 8AM. Plan is to stay all day and that night and drive back Saturday morning.

NM ... here we come!!

Here's a short video clip of a section of the 2.5km run at Henty taken from the front of my boom looking forward. The water was so flat as you came in close to the bar it was amazing! From around 35-45 seconds into the video, I had most of my body over the sand and was looking down at it, with the rail of my board maybe 5-10cm from the bank (don't do this a high speed)! If it had been windier, this would have been epic! Never-the-less, it was so much fun sailing back and fourth for a couple of hours in these conditions! Despite how much fun this was - note to self - it has to be a gale or storm warning (30-40 knots +) before going to Henty for speed sailing!! A strong wind warning is not enough!

gees Dave, accidently fillet a sea-run trout with your fin and you'd be catapulting onto sand!
Looks nice!

Sorry I couldn't hang around to share the stoke of a great day, but thanks Jeremy, Kaleb and Dave for all the rigging advice and laughs throughout the day. I still have a huge smile on my face 24 hours later. Hopefully we can strike it like that again with an even bigger crew there. On the right day that place definitely is Tassies answer to Sandy Point.

looking forward to doing it all over again.

Wayne, was great to catch up! We were all surpised to see another sailor turn up that day at Henty, especially with a trailer in tow! Sorry we didn't get to attach a GPS to you, your NM in particular would have been impressive. You were hooting! We need you on the GPS TC Tassie Speed Seekers Team!!!!!!!!! Please register with our team and if you need any help getting a GPS unit, let me know.

It certainly was a memorable day ... (after all of our moaning for the first few hours)!!
