Thought I might strap my gear on the roof as I'm hoping to be finished at Bell Bay by 4pm this Friday, and should be at Lagoon Bay by 4:30pm.
Throwing it out there if anyone can make it. Probably won't stay long - until around 5:30, but keen to get on the water.
Weather looks like it might be ok in the afternoon :-)
Looks like a westerly Johnny so it should be ok at lagoon bay..I am on call this week unfortunately and wont be able to sail but Ben might be about and is always keen
Yep I'm keen, got Friday off so if the wind is there I will be. Come on Paul, use some sick pay and put the phone in the aqua pack!
Geoff, Al... Where are yas?, let's make it a big session!
Last time I put the work phone in the aqua pack it leaked had to make up some story about why the phone wasn't doing what it should when I handed it in. i'll be driving from Burnie with the gear in my car if its good I might try Turners beach again, tides are crap for the river mouth though
Forecast is still looking ok. Tide should be up enough to get about at 3pm or so... and it will only get better
Looking like Moorelands might be a goer this arvo. Now at devo airport NW 18-22 knots,
But currently SFA at Burnie.
Leaving work soon.
I had to sail earlier than I had hoped and hit the water around 1230. Rigged the 7.5, and caught the last of the outgoing tide. Usually there is lots of weed around on the low tide but today didnt seem to bad. The wind seemed to be building (I was a little overpowered by the time I got off the water) so hopefully you get the premium conditions with the high tide.
Not much happening at the lagoon, going to head for rosevears which currently has higher wind reading than low head.
I got a good 2 hours in at Moorelands between 1 and 3. Would have been nice to have an extra couple of Knots but there was just enough for the 6.2. Some nice ramps and some good wave riding back to the beach. Pretty much wished I had known and sailed at this spot for the past year... Hope you all got out in some wind.
Good to hear you got out Al
After my last post I headed out for 1 more run with Felix .... and made the decision to stick with the lagoon. Wind picked up enough to planne. Johnno also came out for a sail.
Good day at the lagoon
Managed one hour sail after work at 5 at Rosevears .
Wind just enuff to plane then rain came and washed it away . :((
At least you got out... thats the main thing.
I thought Rosevears may have been the pick of places.....Just couldn't bring myself to leave the lagoon with the wind picking up...
Hopefully we get a seabreeze tomorrow
Couldn't believe the sun shone for us Ben! (whilst it rained at Rosevears!)
Was enough at Lagoon for me to realise I was getting my ambitions confused with my abilities! For me it was an excellent session, and I'm only a little sore today!
The buzz of the plane lives on!
This Friday is looking good again guys. I hope to be there around 4-4:15.
EDIT: How badly do the tides affect sailing here? With it going out, does the bay dump into the river current, or will it just be more sand :-) ?
I will be away camping this weekend. Gutted about missing out on whats forecasted though
If you dont go much further out than the sand bar we were talking about last Friday the current wont effect you much....
Wind is also looking good for wednesday arvo. is anybody else headed to lagoon beach? i should be there 4;15 (ish).
cheers all
30kn westerly up here but near 0deg with no wetsuit...
I seem to have lost the interest. Have a blast if u can get out!
Johnny
