Up Friday back Sunday lets smash some waves ,hope Marrawah can provide the lip hitting goods
With wind this time
Forecast showing a one day sail at Marrawah BOL ( saturday) with nothing either side.
Too many options as down here it is going to be just as windy w/nw 25 knots with swell ( Carlton).
Also anyone with spare time low will be good Wednesday , It think there are some guys going up. Saturday looks really good up there as well.
choices!!!!
Let's do Wednesday first( Lowhead probably)then make a call on Saturday (Carlton/park or BOL)
If any wind shows that is
I Think the pattern is more average gusty park beach again sat
But awesome for Marrawah two worlds collide
Down the line waves or onshore bump and jump
A 1/2 days drive each way or an hour each way
Depends on your addiction level
It's in Gods hands yes Houston gets the call
Where is the old boy any way I heard he was last seen on top of mt Cameron chiselling away at stone tablets while turning lettuce leaves into cash
Wind around Carlton and Southarm tomorrow (wed) arvo BoM says 20-25 knots westerly. Swell building from 1m in morning to 2-3m in arvo (depending on where you sail). Suspect swell at Bell Bouys will be better (forecast suggesting 2-3m NW most of the day), but 6 hours up and back is a long drive. I reckon I'll stick with Park, Goats or Sandpits. Hopefully in the arvo.
As for the Saturday, I'll probably go soft and just sail down here, rather than drive north. I get too bored driving in cars. Have a good one.
Tend to agree about Wednesday bellboy and park are mirror images (park ;starboard tack3ft swell 25 knots and bellboy 3ft port tack 30knots with a softer wave but steadier wind both a bit cross on ) maybe put the 6hours bellboy drive in on sat and get Marrawah for down line wave slashing goodness? Hit da lip bro
First two commandments ;
1:Thou shall not leave wind to chase wind unless for Marrawah
2:Thou shall not drive north of Launceston from Hobart more than once a week unless driving an electric car or incur the Roth of the environmentalists
willy weather showing 20 knots all day at Lauderdale- thats only 15 at Carlton., gusty ( BOM says decreasing late morning)
low head showing 24-20knots - usually accurate and consistent. ( Bom says 20-30 knots)
For those who have time i think enjoy the drive north tomorrow.
6pm update will help make decision.
Low head is turning it on again this afternoon as it did yesterday and the day before. The wind has been consistently more than forecast. Should be amazing tomorrow make sure you pack the small stuff if heading north.
BOL looks big and messy for Saturday wind NW Friday then Saturday turning W then WSW wind dropping through the day with a 6m swell then no wind Sunday.... that's not a good combination.
Whereas Low Head looks epic and maybe even Park
8.5meter swell and 35/45knots that's all most Red bull storm chase conditions(9m and50knots) and they had JetSki rescue and all sorts of safety gear I think it might be a bit dangerous
GOOD CALL
Gil is correct. The last few days have been smokin' at Bellbuoy - I have sailed 3 in a row On a 4.5m sail. Tomorrow's forecast looks like the best of them though. Check in the morning.
If anyone is considering the drive from the south, I can't imagine that you will be disappointed.
Looks like there will be just a couple of us enjoying the best of bellbouy today . The plan is to sail from 1pm. I will bring the camera to capture some highlights. Did any southerners hit the road?
Damo just bragged on the southern Whatsapp that "Hi ho hi ho - off to low hwad Tim, Simon, Morgs and Damien go". That was at 10am. So they should be up there about 1ish.
Some pictures.
Fletcher was the stand out sailor with some nice shakas and back loops.
The locals Geoff, Al and Luka, Nick and Gillian always shine!
I called to let you know I wasn't going then got a call from a roadtripper at Oatlands to say it was on and like a typical blonde changed my mind
Sorry but karma got me anyway stuffed around so long this morning that I missed the first and windiest bit
Then copped a mast to the side of head and only made a haka or 1/2 a not landed backloop all day
Let's hope the call for BOL is easyier and Houston has an electric van
Going to be a lot more fun and longer time on the water at Carlton without the 12 hours of driving needed to get Bol
for those thinking about BOL on saturday, take a look at bakers on friday arvo on the way up! massive NW turning Westerly late in the day...
