Bring on my RDO and the long weekend!!! Any plans to sail anywhere different. Bakers? Further east Tomahawk? Or just go old faithful?
bakers is good on the change, which looks like 1 am friday morning...
the good news is its pretty much a full moon

Well I guess the sheep will be asleep
are you going to come for a sail or the conditions not extreme enough for you?
West, southwest winds today. Are people still heading to bell buoy again? High tide at midday. People aiming for afternoon sail?
I've got itchy feet for tomorrow.
Forecast looking OK but has been dropping over the last couple of days. Tide is high around 1pm. Looks like wind is stronger in the afternoon. Are people thinking early sail. Or late for the wind?
Going to Bell buoy around 9am if the winds up to sail the incoming tide. Plan to stay until arms fall off
What are the thoughts on Monday? Forecast doesn't look strong but will it be one of those days that stays above 20knts but isn't forecasted for? Bell buoy? Or if it stays NW greens?
Not a great forecast Hamish, but perhaps Greens after lunch. MSW are forecasting around 22 knots between 12-3pm. just have to wait and see
Well, it ended up being a fun sail at Bell Buoy this afternoon. 21-23 knots was about the average and very good for aerial practice. In fact, we now have another Northern initiated front looper........Hamish Crisp (Grevil11), who finally managed to rotate a forward in the "Right" direction and sail away!! I must admit after watching every run of Hamish's throughout the afternoon and seeing some pretty nasty face plants, finally the rotation was fairly text book and the sail popped up and the Grevil11 was on his very happy way.....still going out with feet in the straps.
Well done Hamish, the pain felt by both you and your surrounding peers was worth it.
PS. Hamish also managed to snap his boom late in the day, not long after his triumphant moment!!
Great day today. Second day for attempting forwards. Managed to consolidate all the good pointers from the guys to finally nail one today. Cheers for the tips Greenie, Pearso, Gclark and Felix . I'll admit watching them rip the waves apart gives you some serious motivation.
Now for a new boom

Great stuff going the forward rotation, and not letting go, I just bought another north silver line even after breaking one before, but not at bol like you did, great shape boom, 2year warranty but you know what the head is like, considering it takes 1 half seasons to break one???? Money is hard to get.2 year warranty suits me .good stuff Hamish, windsurfing just gets harder now, cause you have to do a rad air el chucho flipy spinny thing for next trick, very jealous, winter is comming
Great stuff Hamish and to all your coaches I'm living the dream through you poor old Clarky gave up on me in despair so glad he found a new pupil.

Hmm,Learning to loop and warranties , dont know if continual catapult/smashes abuse, face plant, nose smash landings for all season go on normal warranty claim on boom!!
Come on Houston! I haven't given up...I am just trying to psyche you up!...and I prefer the term Puppet to Pupil...
After Greenie eventually "reached way back on the boom" yesterday and then was amazed at how easily Fronties go around, I said that I was equally amazed at the fact that no one ever does what you tell them to.
Bear away a little
Reach way back on the boom
Pop the board off a chop
Stand up (don't keep leaning back)
Sheet in HEAPS with your back hand while pushing the rig forward in the direction of travel.
It works...you just have to do what you are told. If you do this properly you go around so fast you almost black out with the G forces. If not, you are not doing what you are told.
Focuuuuuuuuuuuuussssssssss...
(It was good to see all the popping and spinning going on yesterday)
For those who dont have the waves as the northern guys do.. it can be done easily at Dorans, or any bay on flat/chop water.
you dont need waves to learn, 12 inch chop and head downwind
same as what Geoff said just head nearly dead downwind and be more aggressive.
Learning to loop on flat water lets you build up from low flat water spins to waves as you build confidence.
I reckon 90% of sailors who want to loop could get there quicker if they started the easy flat water method.
Dont put off waiting for the perfect wave day as it will not happen... start next time you sail.
A forward loop practice day for your first day back ! Damo's is right there are plenty of people
looping who never ride decent surf .The Hood river gorge and Perth metro beach crew for a start and here in Tassie the goats and low head
Crew (ouch) sorry I am just another land based
Looper
All too true. We have heard it all before. My successful forward was from a tiny piece of chop out the back.
Regardless of how easy we say it is, until you complete one, or in Houston's case two, you never really understand how simple it is.
