I have just unpacked the prizes for the race weekend . I have got some Starboard tees, a lycra top, a Starboard backpack, some caps and a few Tiki tools.
To race you need to be a current WT member or to pay the $15 event fee on the day.
Thats so cool Al, awesome! The Tiki tools are amazing and turns out they are good to go for about 9,000km of sailing time ;)
Now sure which one makes me push harder.. the lycra top or the tiki tool
I will be there all weekend keen to help set up and whatever else is needed
It should be good...I am transporting a heap of firewood down there this weekend so the pizza oven can run super hot....90 second pizzas!!!!!!
How many pizza bases will I make for Saturday ? Thinking of making 30 but it would be good to get some idea on how may people would like to eat Pizza.
Thinking the same as last time with BYO toppings. We will also fire up the BBq for those who prefer meat and want to avoid the carbs.
Ok so its looking like a 20 to 25 knot day at Low Head on Saturday so I propose a briefing at 10.30 to decide to the structure of the day. It would be good to get a mix of events happening including the drag race across the Tamar, some slalom racing and some GPS. Obviously it depends on who turns up and what people are keen for. Briefing will be on the grass at Lagoon beach. We can sign people up to Windsurfing Tas on the day if needed.
I don't have any Buoys for slalom racing yet but might be able to sort something out in the next couple of days. There are a few buoys and markers in the channel that may be useful.
Conditions should be pretty flat given the wind direction and low tide making it ideal if you just want to turn up and have a social sail. Rumour has it that Jim (Beam) may be there later in the day though he is to old to sail any more.
It would be good to know how many bases to make for Saturday as I haven't had many RSVPS yet, ( except COOKIE 01 has ordered 5 bases. ) The best bases result when they are left to do their rising thing for a few hours whilst the sailing is on.
I will also bring the projector along for sailing DVD's or old videos if your keen to be the tech officer Johnny.
I will be sailing if there is wind and will be at the pizza house regardless... Someone has to give MR Jim Beam a lift down there.....
Will bring a toppings Bag... thanks for putting all this on guys! Happy to help with whatever needs doing on the day... especially quenching thirst and carbs....
Hey Gill...I reckon the Team Oysters crew will need 10 bases...we are a pretty hungy bunch...and thirsty
Got my leave pass organised
Oops, or I don't, have fun and post pictures of the late night pizzas
BOM shows a very mixed bag wind-wise.
Is 10.30 still the plan?
I will bring a longboard and or SUP for the kids if anyone wants to bring the juniors along.

I'll be trying to get down tomorrow after lunch. With any luck there might be a few more knots than forecast. Gill, I'll be traveling solo, so shouldn't affect the pizza base ratio too much. Happy to pick up some toppings, cheese, etc to help out. Any special requests, let me know. Will try to complete the sign up tonight for WT.

Winds not looking too good today..possibility of some wind after lunch so maybe some light sailing in the afternoon. Pizza night is still on at Al's so will be a great evening. I am planning on heading up with some gear after lunch and if the wind is light maybe a long board cruise. Would be a good day up there for any learners as well
Revised wind forecast and plan Al?????
I will head up with SUP, wally and a few kids life jackets late morning.

Some wind at this point , which is better than forecast, but the consensus is to have another meeting at lagoon at 12:00 with the intention to sail the seabreeze at 2:00.
No competition was held as the wind did not oblige.
The day became a social event with a good turn out of sailors from the N.W coast. It was a beautiful day to relax at the beach and great to meet and catch up with some new and old faces. The biggest of big gear was required to achieve planning runs. Cookie is threatening to tie 30kg bags to Jason's gear, as he made it look like there was more wind than there was. The day finished with a massive 32 pizza consumption effort.
Conditions are looking good for the Race across the Tamar this weekend. Watch the Bom and express an interest if you want to race. I am happy to run some Slalom as well if there is interest. Sunday is the preferred day at the moment.
Great work Al
gives plenty of time for the Southern Severne team sailors to recover after helping with the learn to windsurf day
Ok so I will hold a 1 pm briefing at Lagoon Beach. I am aiming to run the race at either 1:30 or 2:00 (13:30 or 14:00) though we might race later. It should be pretty flat and fast with the low tide in the middle of the afternoon.

This event will not be held on Sunday due to other events being held on the same day. There will still be a few of us having a social sail at Lagoon on Sunday and I will organise the race on a future weekend.
