Is anyone planning on sailing Stanley tomorrow? Looks like it's going to howl up there but also looks like torrential rain as well. Also look a bit ESE, does that make the run a little difficult?
Apart from the rain it would be great Karen I would be there but down at Bicheno. We battled through floodwaters to get here, well parked on the side of the road for a couple of hours waiting for the water level to drop to a safer depth over the flooded bridges about 4ks from Bicheno
There is a severe weather warning issued for the area so hopefully it will last until the low tide later tomorrow morning
Looks like ESE Steve which is not the usual direction, if its strong enough no reason not to get a 40+
I'll get there around 9am, low tide at midday. Should be sailable as soon as the sand bars become exposed on the outgoing tide, so 9am-3pm? Other who sail there more could confirm that.
Thanks for the info guys, that's what I thought. I won't make it this time, but hope you guys get it good.
Just had a look at Stanley observations not much wind yet 14-24kts hope things improve
the first pic is about 4kms Sth of Bicheno and the other is the dam wall at Milton winery Cranbrook the spillway couldn't keep up
