Trip planned in July, driving down to catch-up with family. Is it a good time for sailing? Probs a bit colder than here

Hello, Dowls,

We start to get our cold winter northerlies around middle of June, so July should be good. However, you'll probably need a 4/3 wetsuit, as the Bay water temp bottoms during August at about 10 deg C.

Here's a link to a site which has umpteen menus that you can explore before you come here: www.baywx.com.au/. For a northerly, we generally sail at Green Point, Brighton (bottom of South Road). Look at the wind blowing at Fawkner Beacon (about 6km off shore from Green Point), but note that there can be a 10 knot lower wind speed at Green Point. Note that Green Point is a paid parking area.

Also, our wind forecasters sometimes get it totally wrong! Difficult to believe, but sadly, true.

Hope this helps.
