got the week off so im hoping the sun will stay out and i can get a session on the lake this arvo.
BOM forecast:
Winds: West to southwesterly 10 to 15 knots tending more southerly near the coast during the afternoon, but increasing to 15 to 20 knots and tending west to northwesterly.
any one else skiving off work *cough* and heading out?
Nasi
dont like our chances.. went out last night in a good breeze and in the end it dropped and had to walk back across the lake.. bloody hell it a long way!!
connewarre skunked me,
bearly 5 knots of wind in the arvo.
but ocean grove had a sweet sea breeze and some of it was funneling down the barwon.
nothing epic - about 15 knots but enough for my giant board to plane and nailed some nice hot dog moves that ive been trying to do for a while.
unhooked 1 hand boom hold with upwind carve and touch water with other hand
hooked in continual just 1 hand sailing
nailed 3 really good gybes and 1 was perfect, nicely powered out of the turn
not an epic sesh but im now gagging to try these moves in some decent wind.
do you guys often get to go out during the week?
I guess daylight savings may make it easier.
I dont finish till 5, plus i'm going to take longer to rig up for a while so it's
probably not going to be worth it.
(and the new boards still stuffed waiting to be replaced).
Red & Nasi... How is the lake after all the rain?
I haven't sailed there for quite a few years. (I learnt there 1998 ish)
Is it still 4 foot of water + 6 foot of black stinky mud?
I am thinking of taking some learners as they will feel safer in an enclosed lake and flat water.
Are the still sand banks to look out for?
Cheers
Gav.
Great!
I remember the fish... jumping on to the board and flapping about and the short runs to the other side on a Westerly and only barely getting into the straps before having to get out again to do a gybe at the end.
I will have to give it a go sometime when looking for a blast on flat water.
Catch you down there.
Nasi it looks great from the lake looking back.
Man your board is around 1/2 the width of mine.
I'll go to Whitworths and get some navigation lights to fit on each side as you may need to look out for a slow moving barge...
The water looks really clean, and you look nothing like your picture? Where's the suit?
Looks like a nice place for a bash.
from looking at the video, you need a little bit more downhaul on your sail.. the front panel should not have horizontal creases in it...
