Just in case anyone wants to know.

K3 are now being imported into Australia.

I recently got a 430 and my sails set fine, in fact better than the recomended mast.

They are currently $460 for a 430cm mast delivered to sydney.

If you need a mast nows the time to get hold of one.

well they sure have a dandy looking website and claim that the wave masts is such that:

"the ultimate wave sailor can trust that other parts of your kit will break before your mast!"

but we have all heard mast manufacturers toss on about how strong their masts are...

apparently they have a one year warranty, but there is no talk of what that actually means...

would be nice to have an online register when you could post your broken mast, what brand it was and in what conditions it broke, year/batch of manufacture...

im sure some masts break more than others!

nick you are correct in saying some masts break more than others, but it is also correct to say a lot depends on how they are treated!! It is also true (with boards and sails as well!) that some factories have bad years for products, even with only certain brands from the same factory. RRD wave boards from 2010 being a good example...

The Battlestick is a development of the Whitestick where we sacrificed some weight for a thicker wall section and kevlar reinforcement. So the aim of the product is to create a strong and affordable mast for wave sailing and we feel we have succeded in this!

There is a way to see if people have broken masts in the past - its called these forums and others such as Boards.co.uk. You can search the forums for brands of mast as people often post if they have had problems or breakages. However I have heard that certain posts have been removed for some brands...

Correct the Battlestick is hard/stiff top only, we do the Whitestick which is a constant curve mast however don't hold any stock in Australia for this model.

However if you are interested in the Whitestick get in touch and we can order some for you, it will just take slightly longer.

Believe me the hard top mast works fine for 99% of all sails.

I am a sail maker and worked with some of the big brands on designs and when I rigged my mast was really supprized how well they rigged my sails.

Must more wind range on my ezzy 5.8m and my 5.0m sets fine on it too.

Good product I say, dont slate it until you have used one, I broke two mats at gerroa but my K3 didn't.

Hi, have got a mate to set a north Hero on a K3 battlestick and that worked fine.

Have looked at a 400 K3 mast today, looked nicely made.

Was rigged with a 4.7m loft wave sail, set really well although did take a bit more tension to downhaul than their previous mast but set the sail lovely.

Thanks for the heads up at Toowoon today.....
