The 23 year old Maui based windsurfer is on the water everyday on Maui's north shore. More of a freesailor then competitor, Nick has gotten away from competing in the past few years. He's currently in Morocco sailing in a more fun style event the Morocco Wave Classic www.waveclassicinvitational.com . Here are a few words from Nick about joining OES: "This year in Maui I decided that it was time for me to get on the best boards possible. I tried every style of board I could get my hands on, and nothing worked quite like the OES boards. I'm really excited to be working closely with Peter Ross, he's very motivated to make boards that fit the individual. He customs can be fit around the type of sailor you are, the conditions you are in, and the punishment you put your boards through. It's nice to see a small company making boards that not only work well, but last."
good pick up OES guys,
i have shot video of nick in hawaii in the past and he is a good rider.
He has a good blend of freestyle ability and power wave slay action.
And as he has grown up he seems to have become a really strong sailor.
Thanks Matt, yeah he a great sailor and a super nice guy as well.
Looking farward to veiwing your ''Wizards of OZ'' on the 26th in Adelaide
Here an update from Morocco
Yesterday we had our first day of competition. The conditions were 25 knots and 1 with the occasional 2 foot waves. Great jumping, but not the best waveriding. I was fully powered on my 4.2 Fire and 72 liter OES Quad. The first round had some great action with big backloops, pushloops, and even a couple of doubles! The contest format is very cool, one sailor from each of the five teams sails in every heat. All the competitors sail and judge each others heats. Our team is Kai Kachadorian, Francisco Porcella, me, and our local boy Sofiane. Our whole team are hardcore wave sailing specialists, even our local is one of the best wave riders here. The jumping style of the contest is not the best for us, but after two rounds our team is locked into 3rd place. The most important part is that we are having fun and enjoying sailing with the locals here in Morocco. Today we are getting a little later start, everyone is pretty tired and sore from the action yesterday. We might run another round today, and a small swell is forecasted for next week. Praying for surf here, check the action at www.waveclassicinvitational.com
We had our first day of wind in Moulay. The setup is mostly side shore jumping with wave riding on the lower end of the spot. We decided that it would be better to have a warm up day then to start competition. I sailed the 72 Quad. I was surprised at how well my down the line board worked jumping and in the two foot slop. The board has a nice balance when it’s in the air and has enough speed to go big. The forecast for today is looking good.
Aloha,
Nick
