Hi
I have a 1.5m2 rig that I want to modify, the boom sits too low when my young is sailing it.
I can't lift the boom any higher because of the clew position, the mast is aluminium.
I tried a mates NP Matrix 65 370 which fits the mast base if I take out the Al insert the ID on the base is about 35mm, but he didn't like the idea of cutting it short.
So I'm thinking of looking for the top part of the mast or an old one piece skinny to cut up that is long enough. I'm not sure about the flex I'll need, but I don't think these small sails are performace based, plus the last thing I need is for him to go flying past me.
So if anyone has any ideas about what I can use that would be great.
Cheers
As two piece masts seem to break mainly at the base, there's probably a heap of widowed tops around. I have a couple in my shed, but they are both SDMs. If you are in the Mandurah region, PM me and come and have a look at what may be possible
I have same issue on a Hotsails 1.6. I just use a long mast extension and set the foot of the sail around 30cm above the board. Works fine, and doesn't require any mods to anything.
I have a couple of these Tyronsea and trying to think how you might adapt it. Maybe the widened end would fit over the mast base. The ID is about 45. I think they changed the ID of masts since the 80's so I had to use a sleeve inside the modern mast. I get down Melville pretty regularly.

Not all of them, that will fit my kilwell matrix 5s perfectly.
That just might work, the base we have is 45mm OD, depending on the wind we might be at Lucky Bay tomorrow.
I'll chuck one in the van when I go for a foil today (unless we have unexpected strong wind). You took some photos of me at a track day many years ago, but I've forgotten what you look like! I'll look for someone with a kids rig.
It might work for you upside down.
