There were four raceboards at Pelican Point yesterday afternoon. Two Phantoms and two Equipes. The breeze was perfect.
If anyone else is keen, we'll aim to meet around 3pm on Sunday at Pelican Point. PM me if you want to discuss details.
Hopefully we'll have a Mistral One Design join us this coming Sunday.
Pierre, if you're reading this, please contact me!
I was using a Goya Mark 8.5 m2 it went well until my mast track rope failed and my track kept sliding back and forth. I am going to replace the rope and if I can fix in time sail next Sunday I hope. Taking apart the tracks and putting back together is a nightmare. My only observation is that the 1985-1988 Mistral Equipe LCS XR is off the pace particularly upwind but it is a lot of fun sailing the board nevertheless. Simon was sailing the Starboard Phantom 377L with Severne 9.5 racesail and that is a nice set up. Mike was of course sailing excellently in his world championship form on the 1992 Equipe and 9.5 NP RSX sail.

Hi Rich, check out the windpower sailboards web site as they have a few videos that may assist with the mistral track.
Sorry but no promises.

Dave, Thanks I have seen the video and that is a great website its a shame the store is not in WA as they have a lot of longboards and longboard equipment. I have to purchase some new Marlow 4 mm prestretched rope and have already taken apart the track and I believe I should be up and running for Sunday. I think next I am going to purchase a new 9.5 m2 sail. Cheers Richard

What type of 9.5? Severne RB or other brand
Dave, I have reserved by way of deposit an Ezzy Lion3 9.5 m2 with a Goya carbon course boom which I believe will be fabulous especially on my Equipe. I just had emails from David Ezzy who I know well over email and he says heaps of his customers use them with great satisfaction on raceboards. It is a 2 cam race sail developed with Kevin Pritchard and Mr Ezzy. The good thing is I already have an Ezzy RDM 91 % carbon 490 cm mast which goes perfectly with it. I dont believe I will have the gear this weekend, mainly due to working capital constraints but the 8.5 m2 Mark should be fine enough. Cheers Richard

You're a brave man Richard. I doubt that I'll go that big. In fact anyone on that size is brave.
Your 9.0 NP (forsale) did you use it on the RB?
I hoe to get up one weekend with marcus.
Cheers Dave
The Ezzy Lion is probably the best handling cam sail on the market if the reports are to be believed.
"Quick to rig, the Lion3 is one of our favorite sails because it makes going fast no-hassle. After much testing, for 2016, David made the Lion3:Lighter The Lion3 weighs less than the Lion2 because of a new, lightweight scrim, making the sail easier to handle.Faster Progressive batten spacing (closer towards the top of the sail) produces a smoother twist.More controllable in strong winds The profile above the boom is flatter to give the Lion3 more control when the wind picks up.The Lion3 is a race sail stripped of everything that makes race sails difficult. The luff sleeve is narrow and easier to waterstart or uphaul than a wide sleeve that fills up with water. Like the Lion2, the new Lion3 rigs on all RDM and SDM masts. And, like all Ezzy Sails, the Lion3 is built to last."
The NP 9.0 is for sale. It works fine on the raceboard but I don't have a Pryde Mast (490cm) anymore. I can make a good deal for you.. you can inspect it at site but I am talking about the money for a carton of Coronas plus a pizza so should be easy for a man of your calibre. It does have a shear tip so that helps to depower when winds get up.
Just in case anybody is looking for kit. I have this in the for sale area.
Loft Blade race sail, 5 cam with 490 Severn Engima 100% carbon mast.
Yea, its touting, but you get that

Jervoise Bay Sailing Club might be allowing Course Racing Windsurfers into their winter series if anyone is interested.
Formula Windsurfing/RSX/Raceboard/WindFoil gear...
I don't take video but there is some good footage on the International Raceboard Class page on Facebook
How did it go guys? Bit of a float session or did a few puffs come thru.
Too windy this this weekend unless you want to post a good RB 2sec NM Alpha 1hr.
Sunday was cancelled due to lack of wind as at 3:30 PM there was about 3 knots which was below wind minimum for 1980s World Cup WSMA fun board races for which the Equipe LCS XR was designed. Mike went for a sail, on his own, pumping his way, from Canning bridge and back.
This weekend looks windy so maybe the least windy day will be for race boards. I think that is Saturday but it is difficult to predict in advance. Sunday looks like a short board day, as the forecast looks, at the minute. I am afraid I am bit old school and don't have a GPS so can't measure speeds.
While not a photo of Sundays lack of events, here is retro pic of an early board Robby Naish rode around 1984 on the WSMA tour. Looks like a proto of the Mistral Equipe LCS XR. Robby Naish, Randy Naish (his brother) and Nevin Sayre apparently were riding orange mistral prototype raceboards in the course racing held as part of the 1984 Rip Curl Wave Classic in Torquay.. My board is 33 years old in terms of design !
Richard, they are old rule to be going by.
Its it's a young Robbie too.
Last Sunday looked promising as I drove over the Narrows Bridge heading home to Busso. Anyone make the most of conditions on their RBs?
I got out. It was quite gusty but good with my 7.4m sail. It's starting to get colder though so i wore a steamer plus Titanium top

But I've been in wettie last couple of sessions.
Might be up in a couple of weeks for a Sunday sail.
Just got an F2 Lightning .. see new post Longboard Windsurfing Perth.
Have subscribed to your topic and will be keen to join your Pelican Pt sessions once I get the board ready for use and get an SDM mast.
Raceboarding at Pelican Point tomorrow 2pm for anyone interested.
And remember the Rockingham to Freo dash.
Hi Duff12. Is the Peli Pt raceboarding still happening? I'm working to get an F2 Lightning ready to sail with you all so would love to know when it's happening.
I'm also selling an immaculate classic longboard funboard from 80s/90s (Klepper 305 with original rig) so I can concentrate on the race board. So if you know anyone who might be interested please PM me.
Not sure whether I can post a link here to ad but will include and see (please delete if not permitted): https://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/north-perth/surfing/classic-longboard-windsurfer-for-beginner-or-enthusiast-/1174827341
