Hi folks
Planning to spend about a month from early November on the West Coast, just windsurfing, no other activities. It's my first trip, so not really sure which spot to choose. I'm more into flattish water blasting, doesn't have to be too flat as my board control technique in moderate chop needs some work. I was thinking about Cervantes, but I'm not sure whether it's going to have consistent winds in November, also not sure whether it works in all tides
Any advice from the locals would be much appreciated

My $0.02 as an east-coaster... dont stay in the one spot, go where the wind is.

If you are prepared to drive north or south by say 800km, then you are going to get some wind somewhere. Basing yourself at Cervantes is a good start as it is roughly in the middle of all the spots you might want to sail.

It also somewhat depends on the type of accommodation you have - are you van'ing it ?

Cervantes is probably the windiest place on average so could be a good location. No need to worry about the tides there. Beware that it is generally super windy though, like 30 knots and there is not much else as it's a small, remote town.

For more moderate conditions and a more developed environment, Safety Bay is generally windy (20-25 kts) in November and the seabreeze arrives early during the day and stays until sunset. It's beautiful flat water with some minor chop and a weed fin is a must.

Other places include Pinnaroo Point (less windy, pain to find a park), the Swan River in Perth, Woodman point (not a very nice beach/facilities), Mandurah estuary (less wind, shallow).

I don't have a van, so had to find accommodation. Not an easy task on the rural West Coast. I can manage in a tent at a caravan park for up to a week, but anything longer than that wears me down. There wasn't much available in Cervantes, so I booked a nice motel in Jurien Bay, which seems to be a short drive from Cervantes. I guess I could still manage day trips to Lancelin or overnight trips to Perth or Geraldton if needed.

That's not a bad base. Enjoy and let us know how it was and where you sailed!

Change of plans. I'm in Denham. Had my first session yesterday. Boy oh boy, it's so bloody good. The best session in a very long time.

I was actually thinking about Denham initially, but I was a bit worried that it's quite remote, and if I break anything, the closest shop is 800kms away. So, I was trying to play it safe and go to Cervantes instead. Thanks, Tardy, for convincing me to give it a go. If I only get a few sessions like this, it'd be well worth the whole trip

Sailed the Little Lagoon yesterday, was a little overpowered on 6.0
Today the 6.0 was perfect in the main bay
