Coming to Geraldton later in the year. How strongly are the new Lifejacket/flare/PLB carrying rules being enforced in the area?

New WA law is windsurfers/kitesurfers must wear a PFD and carry flares or a PLB more than 400m off shore.
There was rumours people had been fined. B.S. Or not?

You might be better off getting one of these gadgets and dragging it around behind you.

it could help deter these things which seem to hang around here a bit..

i recon floatys and sparklers are just the thin edge of the wedge...here in the nanny state...

Thanks for the info folks. Nanna States everywhere. Gotta protect people from enjoying themselves!
Someone has noticed the numbers of windsurfers and teabaggers increasing. Just another revenue stream.

its pathetic all the rules that are creeping in now.
are there that many idiots that need to be baby sat that it impacts on all of us? i mean of all the other crap i do for fun that theres far more dangerous than windsurfing, so to make my life safer i need to wear a life jacket a pathetic 400m off the beach. what next a life jacket to free dive more than 10 metres cause we might make it 30m?

I truly believe that too many laws happen when bureaucrats get pushed to justifying their own jobs and/or are bored on the job.

Well how about this, my mate just had to complete a 'working at heights safety course,'
which cost $450.
He's a commercial diver.....

With the amount they charge to get them into the water tanks up on site, they can afford that
