Going to resin some glass patches in the low worn areas of my boom, I'll be adding about 1.5mm thickness.

Maybe add some dynema cloth to make it more abrasion resistant.

I'll see how this one goes, first Show Pony.
Don't have any in stock at the moment DrGreen, probably not worth the shopping trip and outlay for such a small area.

How many layers of glass did you put on to get to 1.5mm? I assume you just brushed on the Epoxy or did you dunk the glass and then applied like you would do with a cast?

I wet out the glass on a table, pulled out excess resin and lifted up carefully placed the layers in position on the boom head. I used 4x 4oz plus 4 x 8.5oz in the super low spots and incase it compressed to much I wrapped 3 layers of 8.5oz over the whole area. I didn't vac bag I wrapped it tight with electrical tape and pricked this hundreds of times with a pin to bleed out any excess resin. I didn't take any pics as I was too busy and sticky resin all over my gloved hands. I'll inspect and sand to shape over the weekend.

Sorry didn't take any pics, to busy and dusty, the glass I put on was a bit uneven and too thick in some places. Spent about 3 hours hand sanding to get the correct roundness and size. It's to small an area to use machines on to sand with. I didn't want to sand to much of as then I'm back to square one, also time consuming putting the head on and off to check it fits right.
All good now fits as tight as a glove and boom head rotates (tightly) up and down so there is no point loading on the mast.
