Hi guys,
Since the release of the fireball range there have been very little 'real life' reviews or experiences out there about this foil.
Mostly tech talk and the explanation about the changed shape and camber. Would love to hear what some of you have experienced with these new foils, especially in relation to the ART v1, ART v2 and whether it's worth it paying a premium - they're much more expensive (1000e for fireball frontwings here in the EU).
For reference; I'm winging, have an ART 1099, and the spitfires 900 & 1100 - 95kg.
Jo!
Got the same weight like u. got Art Pro 1201, Art v1 999 and SF 900. Sold the last and bought the FB1070 but couldn't test it yet because of no wind for weeks but I can report ASAP.
When I first got my 1070 FB and took it out of the box first thoughts at 100 kgs plus was no way is this wing gonna work for me too small coming from long line of big axis foils 1050 HPS Spitfire 1100/1180 it just looked disproportionately out of sync for a heavy rider was thinking I'd have to sell it.I then took it with me to NE Brasil and have put quite a few hrs on it and it is pretty amazing the lift for a 880 area and such HA but it really is a great wing fast and turns pretty good for a super HA wing and the glide is next level been riding in fairly choppy conditions 2-4' swell and it handles really well surprised the crap out of me.Ive ridden with my 7m F1 down to around 13-15 kts to 5.5m in 25-28 kts so pretty impressed that said still using my SF 1180 on lighter and not selling my SF yet but definitely look forward to riding the FB don't have a gps but no doubt fastest wing I've used paired with bigger skinny tails and adv/short 700 fuse works good .Be curious what other heavier riders have to say about the FB too.I also would be nice to see a bigger FB for us heavier riders Dow the line for lighter stuff too
Fireball 1000 first feels.
I had a couple hours winging the Fireball. I am 180lbs, winging in lake swell. I ran it with an ultrashort advance + and a skinny 40 stab. I have been primarily on Art Pro's for a year. This wing gets flying way sooner than Art pro. The take off is very suttle and smooth. My board seems to taxi extra fast with the Fireball.
The handling of this foil is very intuitive and easy. It doesn't require as much input as AP to maneuver. Jibes/tacks felt a lot smoother and predictable.
It turns slightly faster than the 1051AP. It is looser on the yah and easy to skid into and out of turns. I really enjoyed flying it slow and doing radical turns/hacks on chop. The stall speed is much lower than AP. It also goes really fast when I wanted to. Doesn't feel locked in on roll axis at speed as the AP does. I could accelerate instantly to mach speed.
I feel that the FB is an all around better version of the AP.
The only thing I couldn't dial in was the pump. I tried quick taps and big hops but never really felt like I was getting a proper pump. I have read that the pump is a bit different. If anyone has beta on that, please share. It seemed to carry/glide farther than the 1051. Once I stared pumping, I would lose the glide though. I feel like that is me just trying to dial the pump in though.
Breaching was really good, better than AP.
I am stoked to get it on some bigger swells to really take advantage of the glide and connecting bumps.
So really, no downsides comparing to the AP. Just need to figure out the pump.
First day on lake with the FB1070, ultra advanced + and Skinny 35. I used an 6.5 dlab. 10 knots ground wind and max peak 18 gusts as the local station said. I am 95 kg normally would use an 1201.
Wow what a foil. Needs a bit more speed ofc but once up it flies forever. I can underline what they say about low-end and high-end. Feels like the 1201 in slower ride but u can go pretty fast like with a smaller foil. Setup is still very turny. I managed the quick tap pump and it worked great. I really thinkin about selling the big AP. I agree with my previous speaker.
