Is this the future of downwinding for those of us too lazy to learn SUP downwind?

It looks very clunky compared to this:

A buddy of mine just ordered a 5M pocket wing. He's on the sup struggle bus and looking for a cheat code. Requires strong wind to have a chance to get back up if you come down though. With a paddle you can get up without wind if bumps are leftover and good technique...

Wow, these rigid wings seem to be a thing now. This one looks super light yet rigid.

Definitely the way I'd like to see things head. Got to be cheaper than the current high end wings. Easier repairs. Will still float, but won't blow away readily

I'm hoping for some real innovation in this area. Getting rid of the massive inflatable leading edge on current wings must be huge for performance. Things like a modular frame with different size and material canopies should be trivial. I suspect the current big companies are not very interested in this though as their current business model is built around releasing new wings every year where the customer has to buy the whole thing in every size. Current manufacturing is also dialed in on the inflatables from kite days. Hopefully some small independent player will invent a superior product and the big brands will be forced to follow

The BRM looks extremely flat and very unstable. I think some sort of tensioned batten will be required.
