Hi
I am starting my small wave glide journey and understand that the bigger the wave, the smaller foil size for better turn.
However, I wonder how to improve the glide ability in my case small waves , less than 1m.
I have fanatic ha1500, glide 1085, glide 905.
When I try to catch wave and glide down, the speed drops so I can not flag out more than few seconds before I have to pump the wing again. I use 4.5 wing 7-12 m/s.
So which of these foils do you think will be best choice for best gliding in these conditions? Also do you have any advice for keep the glide ?
Thanks for advice
It sounds like you already know that it's a journey and it's going to take time.
Less than 1m are pretty small waves, so it can be difficult to feel the power from the wave when you're starting out. I'd recommend using either your 1500HA or the 1085 Glide. 1500HA would be a bit easier to start with.
Try to find the steepest part of the wave and adjust your course to stay in that section of the wave. Depending on your local conditions and wave speed that may mean going straight downwind or going across the wave. If you're talking about riding wind swells, then you usually have to 'link' bumps to keep going for a while. That means that when the bump you're on runs out, then you need to either fall back to the one behind, or pump forward to the one in front. This just takes practice.
