I have the updated 2023 Modes and keen to read real comments on performance and quality on the Mode pros 2024. I see a few shops have them and am thinking the 5.5m to start.

I have the original. Modes in 4.2 and 5.5

The new ones have the carbon handles... The improved Nweave making for slightly thinner LE tips..but the standout difference is the much thicker canopy ripstop... Which we assume will give longer lifespan in the tension and not bag out.

That being said.. I've been riding the **** out of the original modes and can't say I've noticed any serious "bagging out" of the canopy yet... Still rips upwind and LOVES being overpowered with almost zero flutter. Really loving this gear both the wings and the SF FULL carbon foil setup ????

By the way... A North Foils Facebook page was just started by Dylan from #1 kitehouse in Puerto Rico

Still love my original 4.2 Mode but looking forward to getting the new 4.8 Mode Pro soon. A friend already has the new 3.5 Mode Pro and loves it - a lot more structurally rigid for speed and stability.

A couple of the reviews say to size up with the Mode i.e. a 5.5m is more like a 5m and a 6.8m is more like a 6m at the low end, but that it handles being over powered very well.

Would anyone agree?

I have the old Mode 4.2, 5.5 and 7 and the new Pro 4.8 and 3.5. In my opinion the Pro has basically no flutter from the trailing edge, while the older Modes have a little in big gusts. I would only upgrade to add sizes but not to replace a size. I'm only around 70 kgs so they seem to have ample get up and go for me -- a few pumps and I'm up. I also have some original Slicks and the V2 Slicks. The smaller V2 Slicks ( 4 and 5) in my opinion are really under powered compared to the Modes (and just about anything else I've tried). The V2 6.5 Slick seems like a different beast and works well for me in light winds.

Where I live the wind can be really variable and gusty so I often have two wings pumped and ready to use. I can switch if need be.

Bottom line -- the Mode Pro is a very solid wing at a reasonable price considering performance and materials.

The Mode Pro is the real deal - not only the N-Weave but also the new canopy material feels a leap frog. The wing is so stable, rigid and light with an incredible wind range. Low end is much better than the earlier version. You lock in and go faster than all your mates.
if anything negative I'd say when flagging I could be a bit more settled, also not a fan of the knuckle materials, the softer stuff was easier on the knuckles.
Go get one, such great value for money. Super high performance yet affordable compared to other high end wings.
i pay for my own wings and have the Mode 4.2 and 5.5 and a new Mode Pro 3.5. Also a Nova 2.5 as Modes don't come smaller than 3.5.

Garage clean up day ;) You're in luck..
I weighed :
7.0 lbs - 6.8 Mode Pro
5.4 lbs - 4.2 Mode Pro
6.6 lbs - 5.0 Nova 3
5.8 lbs - 5.5 Mode, last year
6.0 lbs - 6.0 Naish ADX

Special Note:
1) Bath room scale only weighs in .2 increments.
2) All wings had harness lines and leashes attached.
3) Obviously the Nova is heavier pound for pound but I love it's low end and handling for surfing. Would be super cool if it came out in the new materials.
4) I have some other wings and brands but their backups now.
5) I can't remember which ones I weighed before or after I drank a beer.

I try the Unit. Did not like it. Big difference the Unit really grunty lest top end. The mode more racy style. Incredible top end. Also lest spam. Depends what your are looking

I'm really impressed with the updates from the mode particularly the 6.8 pro wingspan compared with the mode7 and the panels seem much more durable to stretch Also my harness lines are both on the most inward side of each one so the balance is correct With the handle placement the modes were a bit off but the pros are bang on The finish is better aswell on the seams

Hi!
The Windrange is increatable. An 5.5 which can handle 30 knots and an 4.2 can handle 40 knots!? Seems to be the solution for a 2 wing quiver. What are ur experiences about that?

Hi, I am around 70 kg and I am doubting between the Mode Pro 4.8 and 5.5. I want to ride starting 11-12 knots but also don't want a wing thats to large. Which should I buy?

Is there any experience about bagging out of the mode pro now after some months it on the market? Especially in comparisson to the mode v1?

Thx

My Mode Pro's 4.2 and 6.8 have seen some use and they still look like new. I'm sold on the new canopy and strut material.

I have a Mode Pro 3.5m with 94 hours on it. It stills looks and feels brand new (except for a foil chop repair. :-( )

Apart from being a great wing, I love that it is water repellent. More than 90% of sessions it's possible to pack it away dry.

The North catalogue has the 2025 model coming out, essentially unchanged except for the addition of Shift Lock handles.
